I am impressed

I have been withholding my comments for a while since I installed the Troyer performance mods to allow time for the recalibration, etc. to take effect so that I could realize the full effect of the mods. Needless to say, I am really impressed. The truck is a completely different truck. I also own a heavily modified 03 vette (500+ hp) and I hate to admit it but I find myself leaving the vette parked more often than I thought I would. Clearly, the truck performance doesn't come close to the vette but I find that I am as eager to drive the truck as the vette. Go figure.

My hat is off to you Mike, you really do know your stuff. Thanks for everything.

Man, that's good to hear, as I have my XCAL-2 on order now and can't wait to get it! Vette sounds pretty sweet, couple friends of mine just bought C6's and love em.

You will not be disappointed.....at all!! Keep in mind that it really does take a little while to obtain the full effect (although noticeable gains fromthe get go), all of which depends on how often you drive and how.

The vette is a really sweet sports car. Like the truck, I get a kick out of being stealth and just blowing the doors off of other vehicles that don't really have any idea what they got into.

Look forward to reading your comments once you get done.

Hi adois-2,

I'm delighted to hear that you took your time checking out just how your vehicle responded to our tuning, and are happy with it.

By the way, I'm a Corvette nut myself - I've owned 13 of them over the years (people here are probably tired of hearing me say that every time a Corvette owner posts here!). The first was the last year of the original LT-1 (1972 model), a beautiful tan-on-white automatic T-top A/C cruiser with typical-for-the-day stuff (including the obligatory Cragar SS wheels & full chrome headers & sidepipes) - and the last one turned out to be the last Z07 made (1995 model).

The newest Z06 is now going to be 500 HP, up from it's previous 405 HP - quite a machine, and wicked-quick in stock trim in a 3200 lb platform. I have avoided spending much time looking at new Z06's, as if I do, I know I'll want another Corvette. We used to be able to buy them for not much over $30-35K out the door brand new in the 1984-1996 time frame, when they stickered for $39K (stripper) to $45K for couples and GM had a hard time selling them all. But now that the new Z06's are $55K+ cars, and we're not getting the discounts that we really should (after all, the Corvette has a *very* high profit margin), I just refuse to pay that kind of price to buy another one. As long as I don't sit in one for very long, I think I can avoid a Z06 purchase.

A few months ago, my wife & I were out for a Sunday cruise in our Lightning when we happened upon a yellow Z06 doing maybe 40 in a 55 zone (I've told this story a thousand times too, so everyone else will be yawning by now). We passed him, and he came up hard on my bumper - and it was on. We ended up doing a couple of 55 to 130 mph blasts, and one final 40-45 to 135 mph blast, and he just kept shrinking in the mirror - it was a stock Z06 (405 Hp variety), and of course our Lightning isn't stock. But I was a bit surprised that with our additional ~2000 lb of weight he didn't stop losing ground and start catching up a bit once we hit 120-130 mph or so - but he just kept falling back (though not as quickly as he did in the 60-100 mph range, of course). However, I don't think I'd want to take on your 500+ HP 2003 Corvette, that should blow our Lightning's additional ton of weight away pretty good I would think!

The point being, you're absolutely right - with a good tune, these trucks can be a lot of fun to drive - and with enough mods (blower, etc.), can actually give some stock or close to stock late-model Corvettes a bit of a surprise on occasion. We've got 2004/2005 F-150 5.4 3V owners who are running 14 second 1/4 miles with just our Stage 1 kit in the 2WD lighter F-150 models.

There's nothing like having a fiberglass prince to play with sitting in the driveway - but it's always nice to have a hot-rod truck and surprise some people, too. (If you ever want to take that truck further, just give us a shout!)

I especially appreciated you pointing out the fact that it does take some miles & drive cycles to get up to the full 100% performance gain from our tuning - that is always true with tuning, and you're exactly right, it depends on how you drive, how often, etc., that also influences that. It's just as you said - you do feel some nice increases immediately, and then even more as you accumulate a few hundred miles and some drive cycles and get the full 100% from it - absolutely.

Thanks for your post, & enjoy your truck!

Wish I could afford even a used vette. Heck, I'd be happy if I could just surprise other trucks once in awhile, but that's also gonna take quite a bit of money to get this beast of a truck to be able to do it lol.
