Buy it now for $3.95??? And it connects to the air intake sensor to 'modify' the a/f ratio? Yeah, I'll trust a $4 POS switch to lean out my engine on my $25K truck.

Hi Mowpar,

That's an old trick we've talked about here *many* times before over the years. It's just a gimmick to trick the PCM into thinking it's colder outside than what it really is, and by doing so, it forces the PCM to deliver more spark advance (timing) - and it can also cause the A/F's to alter a bit as well - bad idea to trick the PCM like that.

The IAT spark modifier (which is what that gimmick defeats) is there for an important reason - to *protect* the engine against too much spark advance once the engine warms up, and in hotter weather, too - and it needs to remain unaltered, otherwise you lose that protection - not a smart idea.

Bottom line - this is an old trick that has been going on for years & years, some people who can't afford to modify their vehicle properly fall in to that trap - steer clear is our advice. The PCM needs to see *unaltered* data, so that it can react to air temps properly as it needs to in order to protect the engine. It's not a proper tune by any stretch of the imagination, it's a gimmick - a band-aid - to "trick" the PCM. Bad idea, the PCM needs to see unaltered data coming in from all of it's various sensors. If you want more power by altering the PCM, they way to do that is a proper tune - not a $4 gimmick that has just as much chance of putting the motor into detonation.
