87 octane tune in high elevation
Yeah, you run in to that at high elevation - usually in those areas out west way up in the mountains, you find that at the highest altitudes 85 octane is "regular."
As long as it's a good quality fuel, that usually works with the 87 octane tuning, but if the truck pings, then it's low-grade crappola fuel and you'll have to step up to a better quality fuel. Just steer clear of the "cheap" gas, no off-brands or no-names - use only the best fuels, and you'll get better power and performance with our tuning, as well as better fuel mileage, too.

Live in Denver too (SE Aurora), sucks for that extra 10 cents a gallon, Don't have a tuner yet but will in about 6 months. I'm actually getting slightly better mileage with 85 octane than I did with mid-grade but don't know how it affects tuned engines, might call Mike Troyer.
