Question "Max Performance" tune vs. custom tune?

Sorry for making another thread, but I figured this topic may deserve one of it's own. I know on the 4.6L the "old" 93 octane tune brought about 26 RWHP. Then the "Max Performance" tune came out and that was suppose to offer about 10% more. 29 - 30 RWHP? Does anyone know how much RWHP / Torque a custom 92 octane tune would yield over the "Max Performance" tune? I'm trying to justify another $500, and I'm not sure 3 HP is going to do it. I do plan to port / polish the TB / elbow, I have removed my pre-cats and have done the intake / exhaust, but I don't know how much of an impact those things have on a custom tune. I plan to do pullies and e-fans as well, but don't think those mods would matter between a custom tune and a "preset" one. Thanks for your time!!!

It's been said that custom tunes can yield up to 50% more HP over the generic tunes. Not sure if that still holds true for the older models.

Hi Jackal,

Compared to the results with the 1715 Micro Tuner, our custom tunes generally deliver about a 50% higher power & performance gains, just speaking in general terms.

So yes, we feel it's certainly worthwhile, and with your special F-150 Online member discount that we give, it won't cost that much to get into our custom tuning. Just give us a call whenever you get a chance & we can go over all the specifics with you, the results, costs, etc., so yo can then give it some thought and decide if it seems worthwhile to you.

Thanks Mike, I tried to get you today and you were on the phone. I spoke with one of the ladies for some time though. Should I try ya again?

Now for the waiting game.

Well, Mikes detailed replies sold me. I placed an order yesterday.

I've been vacillating on performance tunes because my one experience so far left much to be desired. I had a delta chip in my last truck that delivered power but made my truck hard to start in cold weather. I'll never try that manufacturer again.

I like the idea of custom tunes. I'm sure hoping they deliver as well for towing as they seem to for drag.

I should never have visited this forum though. Now I've got the bug for a supercharger. Oh, well. If I start saving now, I'll probably have enough to cover one about the time my truck goes out of warranty.
