? for Mike

Mike, If i was to put off on installing the 4:56's for now, and get your tune to solve my shifting problems now will I be able to recalibrate easily at that time. Can I run the stock gears safely for the time being with the 35"s on it now. I think if I change gears I may void my warrenty on my truck. Got ot check on that one. But you are right it will make my truck run at its best.
Thanks

Well, the most important thing right now is to get that speedo corrected and the transmission's shift points & TQ lock/unlock schedule fixed so the tranny can operate properly. Right now it cannot do that correctly and that is never good for a modern computer-controlled automatic tranny.

Also, if you go ahead and have us do a custom tune now to fix those issues, that will certainly help the transmission as well as performance, etc., and then later on, whenever you want to do the gears, we can easily recalibrate the speedometer & make any shift point changes for the new gears by sending you a file via email - we can do that for any 1999 & newer F-150.

Personally, I wouldn't be so concerned about any potential for a gear ratio change causing denial of a warranty claim (and it's a myth that doing that gear change would "void your warranty" - you're not going to lose the entire vehicle's warranty by doing a gear change). Heck, the gears being changed to something that is *appropriate* for those huge tires is a big step in the RIGHT direction, so as long as the work is done right that is a *positive* thing for your vehicle.

Doing it the smart way, having a Ford dealership do the gear change work and using Ford Motorsport parts provided by the dealer will help you to have a warranty on those parts & labor, by the way - many Ford dealerships would be happy to do that work for you, too. Shop around a bit and you'll find a dealership willing to supply the parts and do the work, so that you have a warranty on the parts and the labor to put them in.

If this were my vehicle, right now I would at least get a custom tune done to fix that tranny's shifting (and to raise power a bit too, to help performance), as what's going on right now is the tranny does not know when to shift, downshift, lock or unlock the torque converter properly, and that is not good for any modern computer-controlled automatic transmission.

So getting the speedo recalibrated and the shift points taken care of (I.E., the custom tune) needs to be done sooner rather than later. Personally, I wouldn't even think about waiting to recalibrate the speedo & fix the transmission's shift characteristics until you can afford to do gears, or until the warranty is over, etc. I would not let that current situation continue in a vehicle of mine.

The bottom lien is, yes, we can easily tune it now and fix the speedometer & odometer and the transmission's shift characteristics to work correctly with those bigger tires you have installed - and then later on, whenever you do the gear ratio change we can make those adjustments too, with a simple email update for the Xcalibrator in any 1999 & newer F-150- that is easily done.

I be calling you before weeks end to order up a custom tune

Thanks Mike,
You came highly recommended to me before I even came to this forum. Now that I have read your personal replies to me and your advice to me and other's I am sold . I will be calling you ASAP to order my tune for my truck.
Thanks Mike I deal with sales and when someone takes time to explain their product and is proud of it,they get my dollar even if someone else is cheaper. In my world price isn't the sale it is the product and who stands behind theirs.
Thanks Again
Gary

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your post - I think Anita mentioned to me that she spoke with you yesterday for your custom tuning order already - good for you!

Enjoy your weekend,
