fastest n/a?

I saw this posted in another thread and was wondering if this is anyone here?

hellbound:

Mike Troyer has told me over the phone that he has 2 of his customers with NA F150 5.4L 3V trucks in the 13's. One guy is running a 13.89 with only 4 bolt ons and 4.10 gears.

the Excalibrator custom tune must be the major part of the increased performance. let here about it, This is the fastst n/a trucks on the board and the 3v must responds much better to mods than the 2v

13.89 is real close to lighning territory (380 hp, 440 ft torque)

I would like to know how they get that kind of times with only 4 bolt ons. Iv'e got the 1715 tuner, Air Force One intake ,Pulleys, Gibson exhaust and I'm only in the 16's. Just don't seem possible to me but if it's true I diffenatly want them!

It's all in the gearing, tire size, TQ curves and of course HP.

If you are in the 16's with those mods, your gears/tire size ratio is crap. I ran about a 15.5 bone stock.

I am running low 14's in the 1/4 mile on a G-tech and of course well documented low 9's in the 1/8th mile.

9.10@76.2mph 1/8ET is my best time thus far. I have posted slips countless times. That is borderline 13's in my truck.

I have 4 bolt ons:

Exhaust
Intake
Tuner
Underdirve pullies...thats it.

My best G-tech time is 14.15@93mph in the 1/4.

So, yes believe it. FATHERFORD is most likely faster than I am.

Orlando,

I went looking in your galleries. There are "several" reasons you are much slower.

Me/ You

Reg Cab SHORT Bed/Reg Cab LONG Bed
3.73 gears/3.55 gears
28.5" diameter tires/Looks like a 30+" tire size
Stock-300HP/STOCK-260HP
Curb weight-4656lbs/Curb weight-4800lbs+ ?????

ALSO: You have a toolbox, stepbars, steel wheels (heavier). This is added weight.

One other thing....the new 5.4L3V trucks WILL run faster than the old ones. People use the great throttle response of the other trucks as a butt-dyno to base power off of.

Case in point: I raced a 2001-2002 RC SB 2WD 5.4L2V with 3.55's and an aftermarket exhaust. I was BONE STOCK in my 2004 RC SB 3.73 5.4L3V 2WD.

I pulled him bad enough to see him in my rearview mirror after 0-70mph. It wasnt even a race.

Ya, I know the weight is killing me. I also have a tow hitch. I think the exhaust is hurting me some to. I think I had a better hole shot with the stock exhaust over the Gibson single catback. I didn;t know any better at the time when I bought it. I didn't have the G-Tech before I changed exhaust so I don't know for . Any ideas besides throwing out a perfectly good exhaust system? I have given thought to electric fans and the Excaliber tune.

They are heavy as hell man. A Supercab Short Bed 2WD weighs 5250lbs empty. After gas, average body weight you are looking at luggin 5550lbs around town.

I tipped the track scales at 5225lbs when I was stock (with me in it and 1/2 tank of gas. OUCH !!!

Would electric fans help?

They weigh in about the same as the stock fan and you can set it up to shut off the fans right before a run. Then at the end you can turn 'em on for a cool down or just go to the automatic setting.

I could see it shaving off a few tenths of a second.

Oh yeah, fans will help alot.

my next mods are:

4.10 gears
E-fans
Hi-flow cats
Plasma Ignition Booster
Nitto 555R drag radials

I'll see a good 3 tenths drop+ in my times just off that. Probably more.
