PCM verison
Hi Rich,
Just look for the tear-tag code - it's on a sticker in the passenger side door frame. Open the front passenger door, then look in the front part of the door frame, in the general area of the door hinges - there you should find a small white sticker that has 3 letters and 1 number on it - like SNL4, SVB1, CML3, etc - there are many difference codes, but always in that same 4-digit format in the 1997 & newer F-150's. That's your PCM's software revision.

Hi Rich,
OK, your code is most likely SVB1 or SVB2 - sometimes the V's look like U's, and vice-versa - same thing with the P's & B's, etc., but because of how familiar we are with these vehicles, and the fact that it's a 2001 5.4 automatic, and what you found - it's most likely a SVB1 or SVB2.
You can look on the back of the PCM itself for another code sticker - it's just above the passenger's kick panel. There will be a small black plastic pressure blip that holds the PCM up against it's mounting bracket, and it usually covers up that sticker. There is a little "tab" on that clip, so just pull that clip straight back and it will slide off - then you can see the back of the PCM and it's other code sticker.
Good luck!

Thanks Mike! Its SVB1. How does the versioning work for the PCM, e.g. is the SVB2 newer code? Are there any references to the PCM versions and what problems where fixed with each upgrade?
Thanks for your time!
