Old 1715 with one program

I have an old 1715 with one program and I can't remember (the manual doen't say) what type of gas to use and if it has any towing problems. Will it hurt to use 87 or just not have the performance increase?

The 1715 is a hand held tuner. It has 3 programs.

Here are the install directions for the 1715

The old 1715 with one program uses the new 1715's TOW program and requires 91+ octane.

The new 1715 has three programs:
1-Super preformance for 91+ octane
2-Towing performance for 91+ octane
3-Towing performance for 87 octane

the old 1715 just has the Tow for 91+ octane.

Hi fullenbd,

As "Fritzthecat" mentioned in his post, the original single-program 1715 Micro Tuner, which was made prior to mid-September of 2003, has one performance program that requires the use of premium gas, and is towing compatible.

So that means you need to use a minimum of 91 octane fuel to safely use that tuner.

Just so you know, many of those original single-program 1715's can be upgraded to the newer 3-program units - but the cost is significant to do that, and you're usually getter of just having us do a *custom* tuner for you with 3 different custom tunes, as that will get better power & performance results compared to the 1715, and also gets you into a product that can be reprogrammed for virtually any 2004 & 2005 FoMoCo vehicle if you trade in your present vehicle on a newer one. Just FYI.

For more info on our custom tuning, etc., just give us a quick call at our number listed below.
