Need a custom chip for my 95'

I'm looking to buy a custom chip for my 1995 F150 with a mass air equipped 5.0 engine and 4r70w transmission with a shift kit, computer code is HUG2. I put 31" tires on my truck with 4.30 gears from the original 235/70/r15 tires and 3.31 gears so now the shifting is off quite a bit escpecially under light to medium throttle.

I would like to get the shifting and speedo corrected but would not like to increase the trans line pressure because I'm already running a shift kit. Also some of the mods I have are an Edelbrock EFI truck inake, BBK twin 56mm throttle body, shorty headers, highflow cats, complete custom dual exhaust with an H-pipe and an adjustable Fuel pressure regulator. I've done lot of other stuff too but it has no direct bearing on the way the engine runs.

Would custom tuning gain me additional benefits because of the mods I've done so far?

Thanks in advance ...Mike

Hello Fordtruck,

It's been awhile since we've seen you drop by here............

As I'm guessing you already know, your speedo cannot be corrected in the PCM's program, of course - that cannot be done in the F-150's PCM program until the 1999 model year.

The mid-90's F-150's have a programmable speedo cluster that your Ford dealer can reprogram up to 6 times - however, most people install the correct speedometer gear in the tailshaft of the transmission, which takes all of 10 minutes to do & is very inexpensive. You will need to know how many teeth you will need on the new gear.

Now the shift points can certainly be corrected in the program, but you need to correct the speedometer *first*- then the shift points on those model years get dialed in from there, once the speedometer is accurate.

The HUG2 code is certainly tunable, we can do a custom tune on that vehicle that will allow you to get the real power that truck is capable of with the modifications you have.

Just give us a call at our number listed below for details.

Hi Mike!

I'm always here! When you sit in an office 8-9 hours a day and look at a computor your mind wanders. I end up here. I'm lovin" the last bunch of stuff for the truck, Thanks!!

Randy

Fordtruck, in the upper right corner of this screen click on "tech articles" and find the section on PSOM corrections for 92-96 trucks, or search for "speedo corrections" and you'll find lots.

Hi Randy,

Ahh, I see - hanging out here is a great way to kill the time, & glads you're enjoying your latest round of goodies.

Hello Fordtruck,

Excellent - glad to see you got that done so quickly!!

F-150 Online is such a great resource, and that's due to so many people, from it's owner & creator, Steve Eppinger, to all the various members who are so helpful to others here.

This is the web site that "started it all" - it's the first late-model Ford truck & SUV enthusiast web site, upon which virtually all others are based & try to emulate. Heck, F-150 Online was really the first credible modern truck & SUV web site of any kind, for any automaker's vehicles, IMHO.

Enjoy,
