SCT - XTREME personal tuning Software
XTREME personal tuning Software
This is the software program that is used with the Xcalibrator’s Email Update Package. Has anyone gotten an email file attachment from Mike and tried it out yet?

Not correct (?)...
Hi jpdadeo ;
Extreme Tune v1.06 is for use with exported tunes in *.XTR format. Your Dealer *may* or *may not* elect to provide them upon request - it is his prerogative.
Yes, I have experimented with ExtremeTune, with varying results. No getting around the fact that TP's tunes are exceptionally well done to begin with ;-)).
The email update package is another piece of software, provided on a floppy if you purchased an email update kit ( cable + s/w); for either a 9100 or a 9300. The Emailed files are in a different format from *.XTR - for use specifically with the email update s/w.
For me, the software is named: "SCT_Cust_9100_Program.exe".
This is for a 9100 however - I don't know what is shipped with the 9300's version of the Email update kit, but I don't think it's XtremeTune.
I believe files for the email update are provided *only* if a properly datalog-supported tune change request is submitted, *or* if the Dealer surmises that changes to the tunes initially provided would benefit from an update. TP has done both.
So, in summary:
Xtreme Tune v1.06 + *.XTR files allow you to 'tweak' your existing 3 tunes and reflash the 9x00 device, and then your PCM.
Email Update allows the Dealer to provide approved changes to replace 1, 2 or all three of your included tunes with new ones to address a specific issue or upgrade, suitably datalogged.
Same pc cable is used for both.
Hope that clarifies things. This is how I understand it - I of course could be all wet ;-))
Cheers

I called Troyer Performance yesterday afternoon inquiring about the software that I would need to reflash the tunes in my 9300 custom Xcalibrator with new files sent to me via email file attachment from Mike. Anita told me the “XTREME personal tuning Software” was what I needed and directed me to SCT web sight to download it. I got the serial cable w/adapter when I ordered my Xcalibrator but was told at that time the software wasn’t available for it just yet. This is why I am curious if anyone has tweaked their tunes yet via Mike’s email attachments.

Hmmm...
Hi jpdadeo;
Thanks for the update.
What I infer from your response is that there is *no* other software provided with the 9300 ( with email kit) to flash your device with updated tunes? Is this correct?
XtremeTune v1.06 is the *only* method used to get tune files into your 9300?
Notice that XtremeTune *only* accepts tune files in *.XTR format.
Hence, if TP sends you your base tune files in this format, you can 'tweak' them if you wish, or just save them. TP does not supply tech support for this practice, and rightly so.
If you request new tune(s) in the future due to a major mod ( blower or whatever), TP will presumably supply updated tunes for your new configuation upon request - datalogging will be required, I think.
You would then use XtremeTune to load those into the 9300 via your pc/cable arrangement.
XtremeTune is pulling double duty - no problem with that approach, as long as the file format is correct.
As for the 'tweaking'... there are a couple basic tutorials recently posted on the SCT forums by a very helpful fellow forum member. You should start there.
Unfortunately, this guy does not work for SCT - and SCT has not really come up with a comprehensive, let alone rudimentary, 'tweaking' guide or help files for the application ( 'F1' displays no help).
Does not look like it's high on their priority list - SCT will respond to specific questions concerning XtremeTune functionality, but it's like pulling teeth. I get the sense that they let this out of the bag half-baked.
Six revisions since December 2004. So, if you are not comfortable ****ing around with Mike's superb tunes, don't.
As I said earlier, I have played around (timing, TC lockup, shift points and firmness, etc) to see what can be seen - I'm an endless tinkerer ;-)). Great thing is, you can modify and save your changes to your hearts content, and ALWAYS be able to go back to Mike's originally supplied state of tune.
Some advice - keep a detailed written record of ALL your tinkering and preceived results in a notebook. And remember...there is no substitute for the Scientific Method.
Another hobby!
Cheers
