Xcalibrator 2
From a previous post...
Hey guys - this was from a few days ago... 4-Mar-2005, posted by 'sranger'.
Hi.
Go to:
http://www.sctflash.com/forum/
...and check out the 'Product Updates' topic.
Currently, there is no definite delivery date - they say it's 'weeks' away.
Also note that SCT indicated a discounted upgrade/tradi-in path for current 9300 owners is being considered, but not for 9100 owners. Bummer.
They may re-consider if we bug 'em enough ;-)).
So, all you 9100-toting folks - start petitioning SCT. My position is that there should be an upgrade path for both 9100 *AND* 9300 owners, to the X2.
Cheers"

..and more...
Yup.
...and datalog ( no specifics given on datalogging 'performance', accuracy, etc)... it's probably no threat to a logger like the LM-1...
As I indicated, check out SCT's web site / relevant forum topics for more info...

Hi everyone,
I am going to attempt to inject a bit of semi-wry humor into this post, and I can only hope it be well received, but in any case will give you the facts.
So no matter what gets said on other message boards (including SCT's site), here are the facts:
No, it doesn't "suck" for those who just bought the Xcalibrator, that's absolute hogwash. As we've said it here numerous times, SCT has from Day 1 promised all Xcalibrator owners a low-cost upgrade whenever the next generation unit actually gets a finalized feature set, is developed, tested, and then finally released (which is a ways off, of course). Something that, by the way, no other manufacturer of this type of product has ever done before!
The truth is, everyone should be HAPPY about having that kind of option to look forward to! And maybe even - dare I say it - perhaps even just a tad grateful that the manufacturer cares enough about their customers (and has listened to people like us here at Troyer Performance) to take that *major* step of providing an iron-clad up-front upgrade - that has never been done before!
The truth is, nobody who owns or who is getting an Xcalibrator isn't losing out on ANYTHING. Period. Additionally, the next generation unit is going to be more expensive, too - ever stop to think that the more features & capabilities that get put into ANY product also automatically cause the price to increase just that much more to pay for those additional parts, engineering, testing, etc., etc? And that this also means that it takes just that much longer to develop and test it? Well, it *does* - the next generation unit *is* going to be more expensive - and nobody knows exactly how much more.
The present Xcalibrator isn't being discontinued, by the way - not be a long shot! It's by far the most cost-effective CAN-capable solution for getting world-class custom tuning, and will continue to be produced!
The development & proposed potential features process for the future next-generation unit is still ongoing, my friends - and nothing you read on any message board ANYWHERE changes that - trust me, we know far more about this than you can find on SCT's site. It's PROPOSED features aren't finalized yet gang, so it's still a ways off and a "work in progress" - just as we've been saying. That hasn't changed, and if and when it does change, you'll get that information from us, right here.
Anyone who has read any of our previous posts on this (which is almost everyone here) already knows that everyone with an Xcalibrator who cares to have whatever additional features turn out to actually be released in any FUTURE unit will easily and for a low cost be able to upgrade to WHATEVER the next generation unit turns out to be - that has always been the scoop, gang.
And no, we're not going to answer questions about what it might get or what it might not get, what it might cost, etc., because we can't - NONE OF THAT IS KNOWN YET, because it's not finalized yet! It's a work in progress whose final configuration, pricing, etc., is not known at this time. What they thought they were going to do just 15 days ago is not what it's going to be - and what is thought today will probably be different from what actually gets finalized and eventually released - because it's still in the R&D stages, so nobody knows just exactly what it will have for sure.
The important point is that there IS in fact an iron-clad upgrade path for owners of Xcalibrators who might decide they want whatever additional features get put into the next unit have that option, so they aren't losing out on *anything* - and that is something that has never happened before, so I think we should all be darned happy about that!!
Just like the 2009 F-150 is still a work in progress, by the way. The 2009 F-150 recently went to clay - and guess what? Despite the fact that F-150's cost many orders of magnitude more than any tuning device, still there has never been a low-cost "upgrade" path for the next-generation of any vehicle. Other than selling or trading in our previous model year vehicles and take a huge financial loss if we choose to trade it in on the next model year vehicle.
The point is, you aren't losing out on *anything* - you've already got an option to upgrade in the future, something you've never had before, and at a very low cost - so nobody has lost out on anything, it's a complete non-issue. So please forgive me when I suggest that let's put this to bed & just get back to enjoying our Xcalibrators!
