RH, you'll probably have better luck getting an answer from Mike on this board than sending him emails with the address listed on his website. I've sent him a email asking some questions after purchasing a FactoryTech valve body from him and resent it a week later. I'm still waiting for my answers. Of course the any answer related to those questions don't matter any longer as my transmission has been overhauled and is back in my truck.

MNTrap,

(This response has been edited after dong some research into the ACTUAL FACTS)

As Chuck kindly pointed out, as our customers are told, as we have been telling everyone here for years literally thousands upon thousands of times - AND JUST AS WE TOLD YOU WHEN WE DID IN FACT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAIL.

We cannot and do not provide Tech Support, get into any kind of details, or answer lists of questions, etc., via the written word. We don't do that here, we don't do that in email - we do not do that via the written word - period. We can't possibly do that, as we get *HUNDREDS* of emails every single day - TONS of emails.

Now let's get to the actual *truth* of what transpired............

Your email most certainly WAS responded to by our staff - it WAS in fact responded to, we have clear records on this. You wanted me to personally tell you how to rebuild your automatic transmission in email, basically ("what else should we do while we're in there?"). And you were told to call us.

Your email WAS responded to, and you were told to CALL US.

All it would have taken was one simple phone call - just as you were told in our response to your email.

The next time you want the benefit of our experience, time & knowledge for free - I suggest you pick up the phone. Buying an inexpensive part fro us does not make us suddenly open up a free "how to performance-build your automatic transmission" email school, my friend.

If you have any questions, or want to say anything else to me - pick up the phone and call me.

Hello rh.223,

Wow, sorry to hear detonation was allowed to continue long enough to destroy the motor - ouch!

However, that begs the question - why didn't you *immediately* take your foot off the throttle when you heard the pinging? I don't understand that - I hate that you had to buy a new engine over this, *and* that the detonation is STILL there!!

The deal is, I can't properly diagnose your vehicle either here or on the telephone, my friend - fuel filter, fuel pump(s), etc, etc. It's rather hard to work on your vehicle from here or over the phone.

The thing to do right now is to take your truck to a **bona fide** Lightning performance expert and have it diagnosed & do whatever it takes to fix the problem - it may be as simple as a clogged fuel filter (replace it every 5K miles!!), or bad O2 sensors, or 1 of the 2 fuel pumps have failed, or a pickup on one of the 2 in-tank fuel pumps has become clogged or detached (problems with 1 of the 2 fuel pumps in the gas tank happens on Lightnings especially), or if there is a kink/obstruction in a fuel line, or a PCM problem, etc., etc.

If I had to guess, I'd say put a new fuel filter on it AND pull the fuel pumps assembly out of the tank and inspect & test them, as well as the entire fuel delivery system - in many cases 1 of the 2 fuel pumps isn't working (failure, sock comes off, etc.), which is why it detonates only at higher speeds when you're at full-throttle - once 1 fuel pump can no longer supply enough fuel, BINGO! Detonation sets in and you blow up the engine.

Only hands-on diagnosis & testing by a true Lightning performance expert is going to properly and quickly determine the actual culprit here. If you want to call us to make any appointment to bring your vehicles here for us to fix it, our number is listed below & we'll be happy to bring your vehicle in and take care of this for you.

If you are trying to fix this yourself (bad idea IMHO), then I suggest that you spend some time reading the message boards in the Lightning section - use the SEARCH feature to retrieve & read posts on that same topic, and see what others found when they had those types of problems. There are plenty of those posts there.

That's really all I can tell you right now - if you want us to work on the vehicle, give us a call & we'll get it in and get this taken care of for you.

Good luck!

Angry

Ok, Mike I never received an email asking me to call! Since I had just spent $200+ on a valve body for my Transmission from your shop I would expect a bit better response from the owner. Actually, I had sent two emails the 1st was on 2-20-05 and the second was on 2-23-05. Both of them were replies to Crystal's message giving me the tracking number for the valve body. Since my transmission was not being worked on as of the 1st email and I had received a reply, I would have called. Those are the facts from me.
