Mike you did it again!
Mike you did it again!
Mike,
I got to hand it to you. The combination of the bigger injectors, Walbro fuel pump and the new tune on the chip has made a big difference. Throttle response is immediat. Acceleration is much better. There is no second gear chirp it is more like 2 chirps.
Becasue of road conditions I can not do a top speed run but if any of the other benifits are an indication there had better not be any police around when I try becasue they will make me walk home.
Kudos
Jean Marc

Hi Fellas,
Thanks for your posts!
For JMC - what an impact getting enough fuel to the motor makes! And you are certainly making more than enough power to warrant the surprisingly inexpensive upgrade of 24# injectors and a big enough fuel pump. I'm just glad that part is done and you can now really lay into it without worrying about running lean - and I hope your post will serve to convince many others to go ahead and upgrade their injectors & fuel pump, as it doesn't cost much, and it's surprising how few mods it really takes with our parts (especially on a 5.4 or a 4.2 V6) to get real benefit from having more injector & fuel pump capacity. Thanks, JMC!
For Steve - glad you're happy, too! If memory serves, I think your 4.2 V6 was one of the ones where it couldn't go open loop and the knock sensor wasn't active in the factory program. I may be wrong, but just recently we tuned a number of 4.2 V6 F-150's that had those same basic issues - and in those cases, we get much larger than "normal" power gains. In those cases, we can get 20+ HP just from tuning for 87 octane in that V6, for example. It will certainly wake that truck up, and now you may find yourself surprising some V8 trucks out there!
Thanks again for your posts gentlemen, & have fun!

Last fall My powerdyne supercharger started to have a bearing failure, I had to use the truck, as it is my daily driver, so for several days i drove it without the belt on while waiting for parts. I could not believe how well the truck ran with Mikes tune the large injecters and the large mass air. The truck was great the only down side was that the trans shifted too hard at wide open throttle due to the lack of hosepower. If I had to I could drive the truck with out the supercharger, but not without Mike Troyer's great tune.
