All New to me!!!!!!
All New to me!!!!!!
The nice thing about this form is the people and the
things they have run across. There is always something
different popping up. I know gas and diesel engines in
side out and have worked on them off and on for many
years. The thing is the newer PC controlled engines are
over my head so to speak!!!!!!!!! It's sure nice to be able
to read and learn from ones that have been there and done
that. This form is new to me. So bearrrrrrr with me.

I remember when I bought my '00 F-150 XLT 5.4 over four years ago. I came here and learned quite a bit. There's no better forum for the transfer of information. Lots of knowledgeable people, if not with a technical bent, surely with plenty of experience! I love it!
F96, welcome.
You should get to know the PCM control enough to help you in you job.
One way to start this is go to the www.motorctaft.com site and look at the OBDII info for all the years up to 05 both gas and diesel.
There is also online school for all this.
The Ford fuel injection site has a lot of good info.
Another site that would be interesting for you is the Colorado State U. OBDII lab. On it you can read many research diagnostics and how they discovered problems with the PCM programs and odd insitefull solutions to CEL faults.
People don't yet realize what a complex operating system they have in their cars and trucks until the CEL light come on or there is a drivability problem. Then the cost of repairs hit's right between the eyes unlike the old days.
Good luck and visit often.

Feel welcome already
Yes it's true I feel welcome already. It's kinda like going home for Christmas. Just go over the river and threw the woods and here we are at F150 online HA!!!!!! I've driven Ford trucks for a long time. I used to have a 1975 ford 390 4bl and a bought new a 1978 4+4 with a 400. Not a real screamer. All in all I couldn't ask for better trucks. They have come a long way since. Everyone here takes a lot of pride in there ride as it should be. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I am also new to this forum but have had friends talk of this for years. I am now working on my F150 and have joined the club so to speak!!!! I have seen alot of great info in the past month as I have browsed this site and am now ready to dig into all the goodies!!!
This is what sites like this were created for in my opinion. It's like a trip to the barbershop on a Saturday morning!
Couldn't get much better if you really wanna make your ride something to be proud of!

You guys are right. I've learned so much from this place after I bought my truck. I now feel more enlightend and on top of my game when I go into the dealer to discuss my concerns about my truck. This is such a great place to come and kick back, be educated and have a good laugh at the same time. Thank you F150 online!
