Talking Just ordered a Troyer Stage 1 Kit....

After reading much of the posts on this site, I decided to go with a stage one Kit from Troyer. I like ordering everything from one vendor. In theory, it should all work well together. Although, I admit that I did lik the specs on the diablo tuner better then the 1715 because it is able to be customized and can be updated via email. However, these mods a fairly simple and a custom tune seems like over kill...

The price seemed reasonable as well. I did a little looking around for deals on the individual parts and the free gound shipping certianly put Troyer at the top of the reasonable price list.

I must admit that I am still a little skeptical ( ok, it is in my nature ) about getting a 40-50hp boost with a cat back, intake and tune, but he seems to know his stuff. I will have to load the 91 octane towing tune, so I know I won't get the max performance, but it should still be fun to see what difference it really makes.

I also have to give that guy a great deal of credit for having the guts to post directly to readers on an open forum like this one. I figure that he must be able to deliver the goods or he would have been flamed by now...

I am certianly looking FWD to playing with these new toys and I will let you guys know how it turns out....

a note

for a small $ to hp gain you can get a 9300 tuner {custom tuner} instead of the 1715 in the stage 1-phil-
even if these 3 mods are all you ever do mike can extract 50% more power than the 1715 tuner provides-phil

Thanks....

Thanks for the advice. I very seriously thought about getting the custome tune, but since I have to load a towing compatable program, I do not think a custome tune would offer that much over the standard 1715 premium towing tune...

I also like being able to read the ECU error codes if one or more of the mods causes a problem....

However, you are correct, it does not add that much to the cost of the kit....

well

the 9100 tuner does read codes
also a towing tune will be head and shoulders above the 87 and 93 towing safe tunes in the 17150-trust me i tried a 1715. diablo sport and sct 9100 tuner

Thanks...

I thought you were talking about the xcaliber.... It does not read codes...

I'll discuss this with Mike and see if he thinks it will make much difference.

P.S. I thought the Towing compatable tune in the 1715 was for premium 91+ gas?

Initial Data....

I though it would be interesting to give some numbers before and after the modifications.

I tested the milage on the last tanks of regular gas. The results are a mix of stop and go traffic to work, 80 miles of highway and about 150 miles of highway towing a small boat/trailer weighing about $1500lb.

Total for the tank ( and I nearly drained it ) was 14.17 mpg....

P.S. I am holding off on installing the 1715 as I am quite confused about the 1715 vs custom tuning thing.... ( see other post for more info )
