Cool Comparison

Okay, I have been seeing nothing but raves about Troyer's custom tuners. What is the big difference between his tuner and the one I have from Hypertech??

Time for some cross product bantering.

Off the subject...how do you get the icons in the message text?

No comparison '-))

Hi.

Well for starters, and this is by no means an exhaustive list ( you'll have to look in the 'Exhaust' section for those):

- Hypertech uses a 'canned' tune, not necessarily optimized for your truck, even though it 'reads' your VIN and supposedly installs the correct tune for your ECU code

- you cannot reflash it to accomodate future mods - no updates thru email

- you can't specify parameters for an in-depth truly custom tune specifically for your vehicle or how you intend to use it

- you don't get Mike's irreplaceable tuning expertise and experience, let alone the phenomenal support and customer service

- you only have 2 tunes - 87 & 93 octane

- price is about the same as the SCT product

More knowledgebale members here can certainly elaborate.

I think it was already stated that other folks have done comparos...

Cheers

I have a few mods on my truck and and use an "Xcalibrator" programmer with Mike Troyer's custom tune. As mentioned, more tunes, I have 4 different tunes (max performance, towing & poor gas + the factory original) and when I do change something, I can have the changes emailed (you need the optional email update kit) to me instead of having to send the programmer back and forth. No down time + Mike's expertise and service, no rush rush, he'll spend time with you to go over your questions to make it right!!

With the 9300 you get three in-depth custom tunes done specifically for your trucks PCM code. It’s not a generic tune. The custom tune takes things into consideration like bumping up the idle rpm, open loop instantly at WOT, A/C compressor turns off at WOT, etc, etc. Most importantly, Mike specializes in tuning F150’s and has for 13 years plus so you can be confident that you’re getting the most sustainable power gain possible that is safe for your truck.

I don't use the tuner but a custom chip from Mike Troyer. About two years ago after a dyno session I sent the results to Mike who corrected the tune on my chip. I raced a fellow F-150 owner who used to beat me by about 10 truck lengths.
Were were side by side, much to our amazement. That was accomplished by Mike knowing what to change. Mike has been tuning my vehicles for over 7 years now. He knows his shït, plane and simple. The neat thing about Mike is that he keeps abreast of all that is going on with our trucks. Did you ever notice that when new stuff comes out he is usually the first to have it? I wonder why????

Talking Tuner answered

Thanks for all the infor guys...and girls, if they are out there. I just guess I am going to have to get rid of my Hypertech and save up for one of Troyer's 9900 series tuners. That way if I get a new truck, I can take it with me.
