depends what mods u have for xcalibrator but from memory superchips is 20hp and 24 ft lbs and custom tuning would jump up around 50% more in any fact its the best mod to start with.

i believe superchips website has a dyno chart done for the 04 ford

Please...

Call or ask here for Mike Troyer and get the complete skinny directly from Troyer Performance. Do a search is even better on this subject. There are lots of posts that can answer your questions.

I personally don't believe anyone can get that much gain with just a programmer. You need to do the other mods to make it all go together. With my mods and my Xcalibrator Custom tune by Mike Troyer I guarantee I have a lot more than the 25/40 you mentioned for the Hypertech.

Talking TALK TO ANYONE AT TROYER

Anyone of the fine people at Troyer can and will go out of there way to help you !!!!! (They have for me)

But if you would like a real understanding of what goes into a custom tune and the eXpertise that Mike has, then talk to him!

I have been tuned on a Xcalibrator for a couple of weeks now and love it!!! And after talking to the people at Troyer and Mike the rest of my mods. will come from him!!!!

After a long talk with Mike about my tune, all the mods. and the software for my truck, I TRUST HIM.

And just remember the Xcalibrator is just a box, If you dont have a Troyer Tune. (look past great deals on the internet)

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me Mike !!!

Hello Davey,

First - I suggest using the SEARCH feature here, as anything you could possibly want to know on this topic has been covered here many hundreds of times - just spend some time reading the posts here, it's all here for the reading. Remember that this is a very busy web site, with new people coming here every day - and once people have posted their impressions, results etc., they don't generally come back frequently to re-type all of that again every time another person drops by here to ask the exact same question - and *everyone* that comes here wants to know the exact same thing you & most other vehicle owners do - "what's the best?"

I'll get you some brief info for now, & then you can call our staff for further details, etc..........

The reason so many F-series owners come to us is very simple - we have specialized in this platform for going on 13 years now here at Troyer Performance, longer than anyone else. That is why we get the best results, because that is what we do day in and day out - specialize in the custom tuning & performance modification of these vehicles - many of them every single day, day in day out, week in week out, year in year out.

A bit about the "correct" power gains for the 2004 & up 5.4's.......................

The gains from a "standard" Superchips 1714 Micro Tuner for the 5.4 3V F-150 on 91 octane are a **minimum** of 20+ peak at the rear wheels, with some gaining as much over 26 HP at the rear wheels - that’s over 30 HP at the flywheel, and that’s just on 91 octane - it's even higher on 93 octane. That's on a high-end Superflo dyno, by the way. And in other areas "under the curve," the gains are even higher, as there is more room for improvement there. And that's just with the "standard” Superchips performance tuning. Now with our Troyer Performance *custom* tuning, the gains are even higher at any throttle position or rpm, as is the overall improvement in driveability & powertrain response, etc., because we go much more in-depth, taking a lot more time to do each single program for each individual vehicle, one at a time. So please don't confuse the gains from the "standard" Superchips products (which are great already) thinking those are what we get from our custom tuning (which is easy to do when reading & talking here about so many different numbers) - our custom tuning always gets the absolute best results, which is why those that want the best go with our *custom* tuning, which is delivered in the 9300 (the Xcalibrator) on the 2004 & up new body style F-150's - and then the other appropriate tuner or chip products for the earlier model years of F-series trucks. You can see that product at this link, (along with other tuning products for various model years of these vehicles, but for the 2004, the 9300 is what you want): http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo

A bit about power gain claims in general - we generally don't use inertia style dynos as many companies do (we will if we have to, and sometimes do just to compare, etc.), like Dynojets for example (which is a great dyno for an inertia style unit at a great price) – when we do, we see larger power gains reported than what eddy-current dynos (like a Mustang or Superflo dyno, for example) will show - that's the world of dynos for you. We do our dyno work primarily on eddy-current (load-variable) dynos to get the best accuracy possible, and to allow us to do part-throttle work too. From time to time you’ll see a post from someone saying they took their truck we tuned to their local dyno and got 32 HP instead of the 26 we may have told them to expect. Or someone may say they got 24 instead of 28, etc. For example, when Phil Kanarkowski (a fellow F-150 Online member) dyno-tested his Diablo chip on his 2003 5.4 F-150, he saw 30 HP gains at the rear wheels – but then he took it to the track, and compared that Diablo chip to our custom tuning on that same vehicle, and our tuning made his truck run 4 tenths quicker in the ¼ mile! When we did the first custom tuning on the 2004 5.4 3V F-150 (which was our own truck) back when the 2004 F-150 first started shipping, we started off bone-stock with power numbers of 219 HP & 287 lbs./ft. of torque at the rear wheels - and we ended up after tuning at 247 HP & 350 lbs./ft. of torque at the rear wheels. Now that's a gain of 28 HP & 63 lbs./ft. of torque PEAK at the rear wheels - huge gains! But you generally don’t see us telling people that everyone is going to get that - unlike what many manufacturers do, which is usually trying to show the highest possible best-case result they ever saw, we try to be a bit conservative - because it may not be what *every* truck sees on *every* dyno, there are simply far too many variables - like a 5-7 HP difference just in the placement of the wheels on the dyno, for example. Dynos vary, as do these vehicles. The point is, don’t get too hung up on "dyno numbers" – the truth is most people don't have much real knowledge of dynos or of proper controlled testing procedures to be able to determine the accuracy or legitimacy of all the various “dyno numbers” that get touted about, unless they are dyno operators themselves, or have a LOT of hands on experience & knowledge on dyno testing – it's just like unless someone is a dentist, they probably not know much about doing root canal work – you get my point.

A bit about trying to get me personally on the phone................

While there are few things I like better than personally talking to each and every person I possible can, please understand that I cannot possibly talk to everyone who sees my name on the Internet - nobody in my position can talk to every one of their customers personally, reality is reality. The people that get thru to me personally are generally those that have a complex configuration - racers, owners of heavily modified vehicles, etc. - and then when I have the time, I try to take as many calls from those with stock to lightly modified vehicles as I can- and those are the type of calls we get the most of, and are really among my favorites. So when I can, I'm more than happy to talk to *anyone*- but the reality is I can’t talk to everyone that sees my name here - just FYI in case I don't get back to you personally.

Similarly, that is also why there are some kinds of posts here that I can’t respond to - like those who think I'm supposed to help them repair their vehicle via the Internet, or try to convince them why they should buy an Air Force One intake over an Airaid, or whatever - typing takes hundreds of times longer than talking, so that’s what the telephone is for. I respond here to what is appropriate, when I can steal the time from what we actually do for a living, I guess is one way to put it. I try to spend as much time here as I can, primarily because I LOVE this place - F-150 Online is simply the most professional Ford truck & SUV enthusiast web site in the world, bar none - it has the best membership, the nicest people overall, and I absolutely love being a part of what happens here - it's an honor.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'll bend over backwards and past the point of exhaustion doing as much as I can - but then everything else has to be handled by our employees, & thanks ever so much for everyone's understanding on that.

I went beyond just what you asked about, as I tend to do because so many people read these posts - I hope that info was helpful DaveyD, & that you'll hang out here with us in your spare time. Oh, and by the way - there is no message for me here from anyone named anything like "DaveyD," I just checked with the couple of staffers that are still here (we closed a little while ago, so everyone else has left for the day)- so you might want to give our staff a call for further details, or if I can break away I'll try to help you.
