airaid kit with 1715
Hi SR,
Yes, a good intake kit certainly will help - though not quite as much as if you opened up the exhaust as well, it's still an excellent mod to do.
In the 1997 thru 2003 F-150 (and the 2004 Heritage models & 2004-2005 4.6 trucks) you will get the best result using the Air Force One intake kit over the Airaid, or a K&N FIPK, etc. It's also made of much higher quality materials and looks far better under the hood - just FYI so you'll know.
In general, installing a top-grade replacement air intake tract is the 2nd best bang-for-the-buck performance mod for these vehicles (and most others), second only to good tuning - so yes, it's an excellent modification to make - even with the stock exhaust, a good intake will help.
If you are concerned with an exhaust being "noisy" perhaps, or if you want the best result in exhaust mods period, Magnaflow is the way to go - great tone without being overly noisy or causing the dreaded "drone" inside the cabin - again, just FYI.
Good luck, & please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail.

Nice to meet you. I have read your post in the past, it's nice to have you here.
My question is regarding the Intake Kits and their performance comparisons.
I have seen on other sites a contradiction to this statement(quoted above), and have found myself wondering which product actually is the best performer for the 04 4.6L F-150.
I looked on troyerperformance.com for a Dyno (I have read in here before that they are on your site), but can't find one. Could you point me in the right direction?
I am concerned only with performance comparisons between the Airaid, and Airforce One.
Regards,
