Governor

I guess this question is for the famous Mike. I am looking at going with the tuner, my question is this. Will the tuner override the damn governor or am I forced to go with a chip?

Either a tuner or a chip can be programmed to override the speed and rev limiters currently programmed into your PCM.

I think that Mr. Troyer may raise the rev limiter as appropriate, but I do not think that he would remove it completely.

If you read some of Troyer's posts, he does, in fact remove the speed limiter. The description for the xcalibrator on their web site says just that...Kevin

Hi Land Yacht,

I know the feeling, nobody likes the 98-105 mph top speed limiters - and don't worry, we always knock that out, and we can do that in either a traditional chip or in the flash device.

As another poster commented, we do NOT eliminate the engine's rev limiter - that would be a rather dumb thing to do, that always needs to be present to protect the engine - it's the top speed limiter that's the problem, not the rev limiter.

For performance tuning, what I strongly recommend is for you to have us do our in-depth *custom* tuning, as opposed to one of our "standard" chips or Micro Tuners, as it is our custom tuning that provides the absolute best safe & sustainable power & performance gains.

There are 3 different products of ours you can use on your truck that will allow you to get our *custom* tuning, and those are Part# SCT6600 (4-program custom chip), then Part# 9100 (3-program custom Micro Tuner with built-in OBD-II code scanner), and then last, our Part# 9300 (3-program custom Xcalibrator). You can read up on those 3 specific products at this link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo

You will see other tuning products there too, but those 3 are the ones you should choose from - and for your vehicle, I would probably recommend using the 9100, that's what we use on our 2003 & earlier F-150's that we own.

Please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, we'll be happy to help.

Hang in there, this can easily and quickly be taken care of for you, so you can really enjoy the performance and driveability your truck is actually capable of!
