Whats the best chip for the money?
Hey all!
i was wondering what the best chip would be to put into a 92 f150 2wd? I dont have any engine upgrades, all i have is just bigger tires. I am looking for the best bang for the buck.
Thanks all!

Hi LR92,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
Your best bang for the buck will be in our tuning - but don't take my word for it, by all means spend some time reading the threads here, you'll see lots of other F-150 Online members who have posted their results, impressions, etc. from using our tuning.
And don't forget to make use of the SEARCH feature here, as that is your key to instantly unlocking all the info you could possibly want on the topic of Computer Chips for these vehicles - virtually anything you could think to ask on this topic has been covered hundreds of times here!
The icon to access SEARCH is in the upper right portion of your screen here - get used to working with it's excellent search filters and you can find anything you want.
With bigger tires and no gear ratio change to compensate, the performance is noticeably deteriorated due to the reduction in torque multiplication - so no doubt you could use some additional power, this is something that is very common in these trucks.
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, examine your various options, find out just exactly what kind of improvement you can expect in your truck, etc., give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over that with you.
In the meantime, spend some time reading the posts here & you'll quickly see that most F-150 owners come to us for their tuning. We've specialized in F-150 performance tuning for many years, and are well known for our results, etc.
Best of luck whatever you decide, & hope you enjoy hanging out here with the rest of us on F-150 Online!

I'm new here at this forum but have read a bunch about the Superchips tuner as well as the Diablo Predator tuner on another forum. Anyone here used the Diablo tuner? Supposedly it has more adjustability as well as being able to read and clear engine codes? Idunno, but I'd think it would be worth the $349 just for the diagnostic capabilities. Can the Superchips tuner read and clear engine codes? I'm just trying to get opinions from more than one source so I can hopefully compare items and filter out biased opinion.
BTW, I hope I'm not stepping on toes here. Just looking to compare items. I'll take what the Diablo sales guy says about both chips and compare it to what the Superchips sales guy says about both chips and hopefully figure out what one is better for my needs.

The Superchips can read codes also.

CHIP
If you actually want a chip, then I would say the 6600 is the best chip. It has four different tunes on it and you pick which ones you want. I have an 87 performance, 87 tow, 91 performance and 93 performance. It comes with a **** that allows you to switch back and forth between the tunes even on the fly. Chip is $350. I like it and have not even used the 93 peformance yet.
That's a good point to remember - the flash devices (Micro Tuners, etc.) can only be used on the 1996 & newer OBD-II vehicles - prior to the 1996 model year, those trucks are OBD-I & use the EEC-IV PCM, so they have to use a chip instead of a flash device.
All of that can be seen on our web site at the following link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo
There you can see most of our tuning products - the ones that would be applicable for the pre-1996 F-150's are our Part#'s 1100, 5500 & 6600. Now we recommend using either the 5500 (single program custom tune) or the 6600 (can be loaded with p to 4 different custom tunes), as those will have our *custom* tuning, which is much more in-depth and will deliver the highest possible safe & sustainable power & performance gains of any chip.
