Hi Phil,

You already have the hardware - that's your 9100 custom Micro Tuner. It's a *software* application that will be released at some point in the future. It's been talked about for a year now, and every time we think it's done, other issues are found in testing that have to be dealt with - so it's your standard R&D project, and will be done whenever everyone is happy with the testing at some point in the future.

By the way - I don't remember if I had ever noticed before that you had an anniversary turbo Firebird - very cool car, they were pretty strong even in stock trim - I see you're going 11.0's with yours, excellent!

Phil..

Hey man...how have you been?

What's your new toy?

Mike....9100 is still kickin butt...I love it.

The only bad thing is I may be trading my truck off for a SuperDuty PowerStroke...With my new business I pull a trailer and I'd love to have that diesel for the mountain up here.

04 Cobra.

ah man, my mouth is watering....My father in law has a Chevy Duramax with the Banks system on it. It's really impressive. He is retired, but drives for a car dealership..long story but anyway. He drove the new 05 PSD and said that his with the banks system wouldn't hold a candle to the Ford..He was impressed, and he's a Chevy guy.

Hi Phil,

Yeah, I love those turbo Poncho's - that anniversary model was just plain wicked in stock trim - it beat the Corvettes of it's day (and many still today) so bad it wasn't even close to a contest in bone-stock trim.

They had zero traction once the boost was up - which was just about instantly. I always wanted to own one, but I just never found one at the right time in the right shape, etc.

Nice to see you worked so much on yours to get it hooked up, etc. Running 11.0's at well over 120 mph is flat moving on - I'll bet the top speed (which as already about 162 in stock trim) with your mods is unbelievable - ever get a chance to top it out?

info

it was the first car stock to pull 150 down the straights at indy- i've had it up to 5500 shifting into od on the sawgrass expressway in fla- handling gets very hairy i have a full urethane kbushing kit and was going to lower it and do subframe braces- but -all my stuff is bolt on so i can return to stock- i know there was one on ebay other day with like 60 miles on it- ver tempting!

Hi Phil & Dan,

1st to do 150 down the straight at Indy in stock trim? Pretty impressive, I didn't know that!

Sorry to get off the topic of this thread, but I have greatly appreciated some of the comments from both of you about really high speeds - you can always tell someone who actually has any real experience with that, as the first thing that comes up is always the suspension. You're both absolutely right (and don't need me to tell you that) that the suspension and the body styling/fairing/cladding/spoiler(s), etc. play a big role in whether a vehicle is actually drivable, confident & survivable at those kinds of speeds.

The GN (another wicked-fast factory hot-rod) never had the suspension setup from the factory to be driven at really high speeds for any length of time - drag strip sure, but not really topping it out. The turbo Poncho did that part a bit better, to be sure - at one point I had the old issue of C&D where they topped it out at 162, saying that at 158 the driver's window popped out of it's upper guide/track - I'll never forget that. I was a big Corvette nut at the time (having owned 13 of them), and it burned me that the turbo Poncho not only wiped the Corvette in the 1/4 mile, but also beat it on the top end (in their testing) by 7 mph (155 for the Corvette vs. 162 for the Pontiac).

Far too many people seem to want to do a top speed run without enough consideration for the suspension or for lift at either end of the vehicle, etc. All it takes is the tiniest bit of bad wind gust or mistake or rough pavement to send the vehicle 2-4 lanes in another direction and turn fun into disaster - glad you guys obviously know the difference, and thanks for your comments, etc.

Now I've got a hankering to go top out the Lightning.............................. which really is surprising in it's handling at high speeds *for a truck*. The darn thing settles down and behaves & drives in a more confident feel at say, 120-130 mph than it is at 85-90 mph. The front bumper cover's fog light "pockets" grab more & more air as you go faster, and makes the front hunker down at speed - so it actually handles pretty decently for a truck, well enough to be able to top it out at the proper place & time.

Have fun gentlemen,

heh thats why my car isnt going any faster than 11's. body flex is bad. I dont know if you have to worry about it on that TA but my car is also a t-top and it needs serious bracing to go any faster, plus the whole roll cage with anything faster than 11.5 is annoying.
