Reburning a Superchip
Mike T. or anyone in the know,
I bought a Schip last year for my 2001 Supercrew 5.4L. I traded it today for a 2001 Lightning. Before I let go of my trade I removed the chip. Can I, should I, have it reprogramed for the L?

That's a big change of trucks!!! The chip can be reburned to work in the L and yes you should get one. I had an 00 L and the chip really made it wake up. It makes alot more difference in an L than a regular F-150. Go for it and you'll love it
Hi SuckBangBlow,
Haven't seen you around for awhile, I hope everything is going well for you!
Yes, we can reprogram that Superchip for your Lightning, and yes, you'll *love* what it does for the Lightning.
Just shoot us an email or give us a quick call, & we can go over the arrangements with you, so you can enjoy the Superchip for your Lightning.
And of course, congratulations on getting a Lightning! The 2001 Lightning has more power from the factory and more gear ratio compared to the 1999 & 2000 Lightnings, you've got a very nice truck there, but then, you already know all that.

I got a ? that is some what simaler as I don't have a chip yet still thinking about maybe getting one now for my ? if I go ahaed and get one for my truck then say in a year or 2 or when ever I trade it in say for a Mustang GT could I get it reprogramed for for the Stang or would I have to get a whole new chip.
Hi hmustang,
Good question, that comes up from time to time.
As long as no changes are made to the design of the Ford powertrain computer in your future vehicle, then yes, you would be able to have us reprogram an existing Superchip for an F-150 to a Mustang, for example. The Superchip module that works on these F-150's can be programmed for just about any of Ford's vehicles except the Powerstroke diesel or the V-10 gas engine; those 2 applications take a different type of Superchip module.
Many people have kept the same Superchip and just had us reprogram them to work on the next vehicle.
Superchips have been a "flash" design ever since roughly about 1996-1997 or so, and so those are the units that can be reprogrammed.
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call.
