Hi las52,

These vehicles will have different codes for obvious things like a different engine, transmission rear gear ratio, etc. But they can also have dozens and dozens of different codes for the exact same vehicle over the course of just 1 model year, as they're always doing running updates & changes.

These F-150's are the world's most popular vehicle of any kind for the last 18 years now, Ford builds 750,000 of them every year. So that's why we see more different codes in F-150's than any other vehicle. This is not something that just Ford does, by the way, just about all automakers do this, they'll do running updates during the model year.

These different codes do not affect power, your 1999 5.4 (ZZT3's are all 1999 5.4 automatic F-150's) will have the same basic amount of power as any other 1999 or newer 5.4 F-150, 260 hp SAE Net at the flywheel. So no, there aren't some codes that are "better performers" than others, make approximately the same power when stock.

Hi las52,

Well, that will really depend on just how hard you really want it to hit the gears. The "standard" Superchip performance program for these vehicles already improves that quite a bit. I'd say the best thing to do is to give us a call when you get a chance, and let's discuss this in some detail, and that will help us to know whether to recommend the installation of a shift kit, or do a custom program, or whether you'll be happy with what we're already doing to improve all of that in our regular performance program. That way we can make sure you get exactly what you want in terms of shift firmness, etc.

Talk to you soon & have a good weekend,
