The anticipation is a killer, eh.
I was out of work (with an injury) when I ordered mine. I was practicly counting the minuets. Then the Superchip comes in (like Mike said, two buissness days) and I wasn't able to put it in for a few more days.(damn surgery!)
It's been in since mid March. Now it's time for an oil change. I get to take the thing out and start over. I dread driving this truck with out the Superchip. When I put it back in, I will have an even bigger appreciation for it.
I hope time flys for you. Good luck on the install. Keep the directions handy.

fast,
It's been a couple of years that you have been talking about a chip. What's a few more days? May I suggest that you take out your computer, while you're waiting, and clean the coating off of the contacts. That way, when your chip arrives, all you have to do is pop it in.

Hey Fast,
If you want to know how we feel about this, we'd really prefer that you had our documentation before removing the computer & cleaning the contacts, etc., as we have gone to great lengths to write & give you highly detailed instructions on doing all of that, from start to finish, including very important visual characteristics to look for when cleaning those contacts.
If you like, that can even be emailed to you, just shoot me a quick email and we'll reply by attaching that info to our response if you like.
It's up to you of course, but all your questions and far more will be answered just by reading the documentation that we provide with the Superchip, along with other numerous tips & details, troubleshooting info, etc.
All that having been said, if you want to have at it, that's up to you! You do not have to remove your battery unless there are components on the firewall above the wiring harness that block your access to ths computers' wiring harness, like in the case of any F-150 with the Offroad package, for example. Even then, if you have an extension & swivel socket, you can still avoid battery removal in many cases. If you have large hands, count on removing the battery anyway, and it's easy, pulling the battery is a 5 minute job.
To remove the computer, you must loosen that 10mm bolt head (which remains an integral part of that harness, so you won't be removing that bolt, just loosening it a good deal) that is in the middle of the wiring harness, and as you do that, the harness will slowly back off of the front of the computer, until you can detach it. Then go into the cabin, and remove the black pressure clip that holds the computer against it's mounting bracket.
The computer is located to the right of the dash assembly, and above the passenger's kick panel. Once you remove that black pressure clip, that's it, you can then pull thw computer itself out.
Make sure to remove the top & bottom covers of the computer, so that you will have enough room to properly clean that connector, don't try taking a shorcut by not removing the covers. When cleaning those contacts, make sure you don't go too far, you don't want to go all the way down into the copper when scraping. Scrape thoroughly, but lightly, in other words. The conformal coating that has to be removed is clear in color, so it can be tricky for a first-timer to tell if it's all removed or not, just take your time. When scraping that coating off, it will turn white where it's penetrated or "cut", making it easier to see it. Just take your time, and don't rush this.
Again, we'd prefer that you had all the instructions & documentation that we provide with the Superchip before you do this, but if you're determined to do this ahead of time, please just be careful, and don't do anything you're not comfortable with or that you're not sure of. Call me even over the weekend if you need to, and leave a voicemail, & we'll get back to you, Fast.
Another poster mentioned that you've been waiting for years to do the Superchip, and that what's a couple more days. I agree completely! We're just happy for you, that you're going to be able to do it, after all this time. We hope the wait will have been worth it for you!

LOL Mike!
Tomorrow...I hope! Ill get home ASAP from school and if I see the brown UPS bag...Im gonna go nuts and tear it open
Any install tips Mike? Some people complained about the clip, that holds the computer, like its hard to pull the computer from it. Will this cause me any problems?
