Superchip Help
Hey everyone I'm new to the site, and purchases my 2000 f-150 2 months ago. The 5.4L has impressive power but i need just a little more. I tow heavy equipment sometimes and I'd like to increase my low end tourque and overall hp. I have a K&N intake and flowmaster true dual exhaust. What can i do to boost the horsepower? Please help
Hi F-150Flare,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
If you want the *best* actual results in terms of amount of torque and horsepower gained at any rpm & any throttle position (critical for towing), that is had with our custom tuning. Here at Troyer Performance, we have specialized in tuning the F-150 for well over a decade, and have performance-tuned more of them than anyone else in the aftermarket. Many F-150 owners come to us for their tuning needs due to our specializing in this platform & the results we get.
It would be a good idea for you to spend some time reading the posts from the people here who are actually using our products - there are plenty of posts from those who have plunked down their hard-earned cash to have us provide their tuning, and they have shared their results with the members here.
You can use the SEARCH feature to specifically look up those kinds of posts, or you can search on posts by members like Marc Carpenter (who just responded to you), or "openclasspro," or another named "watsonr," etc. (Those are their screen names, so you can look up posts by them specifically, if you want - there's many people here, those are just a few that have posted a number of times on specific results, comparisons, etc.) There are also posts from F-150 & Expedition owners who do heavy towing & have posted their results from our tuning - pone member here who made some very informative posts on his towing results a while back is a fellow with the screen name Family Ride (I don't remember if it's one word or 2 separate words for his screen name).
What I suggest is our custom tuning (even for a bone-stock truck) as opposed to off-the-shelf tuning, as that is what will actually net you the best results - the largest possible safe & sustainable torque & horsepower gains, as well as improved driveability and when cruising, better mpg as well.
You can take a look at the following link to our web site, and you'll want to read in detail specifically on our Part# 9100 - that is our 3-program Micro Tuner loaded with 3 different custom tunes set up exactly as you want & need for your specific vehicle and what you need it to do for you. You just connect it to the diagnostic port under your dash and it's installed in 10 minutes - very simple - and you can go back to stock at any time. It also has a built-in OBD-II code scanner, etc. Here's the link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo
And of course, if you would like to go over any of this in more detail, find out in advance just what we can do for your truck, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below - we'll be happy to spend some time with you going over everything. (Just so you'll know, we are closed on Monday for the holiday).
Glad you dropped by, & please do take some time to read the posts from other owners using our tuning who have posted their results, impressions, etc - it's very informative, & nice to have feedback directly from those with actual hands-on experience using it in their F-150's.
Best of luck whatever you decide, & we hope you'll hang out here with the rest of us F-series owners when you can!
