mike: i was explaining to my brother-in-law my appreciation of my new superchip (97 4.6 f-150). he may get one but we couldn't find (just a cursory look at his '98 explorer 5.0v8-eddie bauer ed.) his computer--would you or anyone post the location? thanks dan

Sure!

The computers in the 1995 & newer Explorers are located under the hood. They are mounted at the top of the firewall, just left of center, and the computer itself will be recessed completely back into a little "cubbyhole" in the firewall. It's very easy to get to, simply remove the wiring harness attached to the front of the computer by loosening that same 10mm bolt ike you did in your F-150, and the detach the harness. Then remove the 2 retaining nuts that hold the computer to the firewall, and slide it out from it's hole, very easy!

There will be a code sticker right on top of the computer, and also on another white sticker somewher under the hood, same format, 3 letters and 1 number.
