Post 2002 Expedition and Superchip?

Hello All,

I have followed this message board for quite some time now and this is my first posting. I have really learned alot about my vehicle (All Fords I might add). My first truck was a 1998 F150 Lariat 2WD, my second truck was a 1999 F150 XLT 4x4 Sport, and my third vehicle (currently driving) is an 2001 Expedition XLT with the No Boundaries Option Package. On my current vehicle, I have added an K&N intake and Flowmaster Series 40 muffler. My next mod will probably be the Superchip. From reading all of the feedback, I feel I will definitely get my money's worth with this mod. My main concern is its compatibility with the 2002 Expedition model. I plan on upgrading as soon as these new models are available, so I am kinda leary about purchasing this Superchip now and then having it rendered useless once I upgrade my vehicle in 6-8 mos. Does anyone know if there is at least the possibility that this chip may be useable with some reprogramming on the new models.

I do not know the exact changes to the 2002 models but.. The Superchip is computer code specific. You would have a different code on the new vehicle but all you do is send the chip in and they reprogram it with the new code. If there are changes that even prevent this, there is always someone who will buy your 'old' superchip. A lot of owners will have your same code and want your chip. Return customers get free shipping also.

Hi EeyorLives,

As long as they don't change anything on the 2002 Expedition with regards to the basic design of their computer (and they haven't done any changes that would affect the Superchip in many years), you'll be fine, we'll just need to reprogram it to the computer code in your next new Expedition.

We have a number of customers who have done just that, they had say, a 1997 F-150 and then got a new 2001 model, same thing with Expy's, etc., so this is a very common thing to do.
