Post Superchip Performance -- unscientific results

Last week before installing my Superchip, I brought my truck out to get a feel for 0-60 times. The (unscientific) procedure was using a stopwatch for three consecutive runs then taking the average. The result for the stock 5.4L engine on my Supercab 4x4 was about 9.05 seconds.

After installing the Superchip, I performed the same procedure and my average dropped to 8.5 seconds.

I know this may not be a completely accurate read and I would be much better off getting 1/4 mile times on a track, however, given that the procedure was consistent is does conclusively show that there are pretty good performance gains to be had.

The better news... I have heard that additional gains can still be seen once the computer goes through its full relearn cycle (500-800 miles). I can't wait

Hi Cyclone,

You're right, using a hand-held stopwatch isn't the most precise way of doing this, but if you're careful & as consistent as possible in terms of when you nail the gas to when you click the stopwatch, and the same with regards to when the speedo needle hits exactly 60 to when you click it off, then you can get close enough to determine the basic fact that it accelerates quicker with the Superchip than without it.

We normally see improvements ranging from a low of about 3 tenths in the heaviest trucks to as much as 6-7 tenths in the rest, and a few people have gotten even a bit more off their 0-60 times, so it sounds like what you're getting is very good!

Have fun,

Thumbs up

I had similar results...I am at 7.8/7.85 seconds with almost 4,000 miles on the relearn cycle. My stock 0-60 was in the mid 8's (4x2). Not bad at all for a 5,000 lb hunk of steel.

I do have a K&N filter which I'm sure helps a little.

Either way, well worth the investment to me!

Talking

I also put a Flip Chip just this am.
I took my truck on the highway, WOW it just moves. Before realizing it was smoothly up to 90MPH, as a state trooper went by the other way. Mike T. was right about the install, take your time adn read the instructions and it went very smooth.
