Hi mjd5.4,

Ahh, so that's *you*!

I have a hard time remembering who is who most of the time with all the screen nicknames we use here.

Glad to hear everyone is happy, and I'm also glad to hear you're running that regular out before installing the Superchip, that's very patient of you, and the right thing to do, of course. Many times people are so excited they just can't wait, and it's perfectly understandable, it's human nature, we all want more power.

Have fun & thanks for touching base,

Mike,
Got my chip from you the day before yesterday. I am driving like a fool to burn out the 87 octane gas in my tank. It is killing me!

Hi Phoenix,

Sounds like you had some fun horsing around in 4Lo there, & thanks for your kind words.

In terms of what to realistically expect from the Superchip in these gas engines, it should feel like you just picked up about 10%-12% more motor, is one way to put it.

It's funny, sometimes it's hard to reconcile the "WOW!" posts with your own results, and we have to remember that there is well over 3000 lbs. of potential weight difference in all the various configurations of these F-150's, so the same amount of power gain on a 4200 lb. F-150 naturally doesn't feel like as much in a 5700 lb. F-150. The best way to gauge your expectations is to think of picking up about 10%-12% more power, roughly.

Good luck!

Hi Mike,

I hear you! With the weekend upon us, that shouldn't be too long now, hopefully.

We're glad to hear that you're being patient and running that 87 octane out before installing the Superchip. I know it's hard to wait, but that is the "correct" way to prepare for the Superchip installation.

Installing it with regular still in the tank will cause you to not get the power gain from the Superchip, and you may also get detonation (pinging, spark knock) as well, that will depend on just how much total effective compensation range the knock sensor system in your particular vehicle has, as they do vary quite a bit. All in all, your far better off waiting like you are, thanks & good luck!
