Question What fuel with a superchip???

I am considering purchasing a superchip for my truck. I was wondering what octane rating fuel is needed to run the chip?? Also what is a good chip to get on a student's budget? Any help is appreciated.

funboy-
you will need to run 92+ octane.
I went the flip chip from Superchip. Well worth the money versus single mode chip. My flip chip will allow me to run both 87 and 92+. I do not always need the power that the chip provides and mainly just want the power while towing. Plus I do not want to pour premium gas in my truck all the time with current gasoline prices. Mike T will probably respond to you and help you order one. Good luck

I use Chevron 92 Octane almost exclusively.

Hi funboy289,

Any performance chip that actually increases engine power is going to require the use of premium gasoline.

As HtownDan mentioned, we also offer a product that can store 2 programs, called the Superchip Flip Chip, and we can set it up with a pair of programs tuned for regular gas on one side and premium on the other, like Dan's setup. Just keep in mind that the real pwoer gains will only come when running the premium gas program, even though it will feel a little bit peppier with the Flip Chip running the regular gas program, due to removal of transitional spark retards, etc.

If you'd like to get all the details, etc., so you can give it some thought, please feel free to give us a shout, our contact info is just below.

Best of luck with your truck and in school!
