I will be ordering the superchip tomorrow from f150online, and wondering, does it improve throttle response? Everytime I step on the gas, that lag is just horrible and makes me want to puke. Thanks!

well, i cant help you on whether or not it wil help your response as i have one in teh mail somewhere but i can tell you how to get the link. look at all the posts in the computer chip section. find one that has been answered by mike troyer, aka superchip distributor and click on his link at the bottom of his post. that will bring you directly to his order form.

 

Yes it will improve it! When I hit the gas..the RPMs climb immediately...no lag/delay. When you eventually install that FIPK you have listed..you will see an even better throttle response.

As discussed before..the lag in the tranny shifting will also be greatly improved!

All of this combined will put one heck of a smile on your face when you hit the gas! Like this --->

Oh, hows it improve on speeds above 60? Remember how I said the 4.6l died above 50? This 5.4l pulls strong as hell even after 80! Went on freeway yesterday, and when there was an empty 2 mile stretch, I gunned it, and I was surprised how it put me in the seat!

FYI, I did notice a lack of lag so to speak, after installing my Airaid. Chip went in the next day and even more responsive....then the exhaust.....you get what I'm saying...

A couple others were gracious enough to provide the link to our online ordering system here, and it's also in this and every post of ours, in our signature line just below.

You're right on the money in the difference in how the '99 & newer 5.4 pulls over your previous 4.6 motor, as the '99 & up 5.4 has those nice "P.I" (power improved) cylinder heads which breathe much better, so it doesn't fall on it's face as rpms rise like that.

You're going to enjoy it even more with the Superchip, which will improve the basic throttle response that's bugging you as well.

If you mean lag in throttle response as in free play in the pedal linkage look inside the truck at the gas pedal and you might see that you can move the pedal before the cable begins to move. I used a small bolt, 2 washers and a nut to take up that slack and it now feels more like instant on when I touch the gas pedal.

I don't think I remember this being discussed here before, so this might be worth checking in the case of "free play", as you said. If there is free play, it sure would feel better having that eliminated, certainly.

Actually, that might make a good "tech tip" article here on F-150 Online, if you might be able to scan or get some digital photo's, etc.
