new chevy verses ford
Hi K.,
Well, what you'll want to remember is that Ford has been kicking their butts in the power race ever since the introduction of the new Super Duty line a few years ago, and it's taken GM years to get back into the game in the heavier capacities.
Long-term, it's a see-saw that goes back and forth, and Ford has continually won in terms of sales numbers for the better part of the last 2 decades.
This horsepower game has been played for decades upon decades between all the various automakers, and who has the most will teeter back and forth as it always has.
One thing we're seeing is that as the market has shifted more into the heavier SUV's & trucks, power available in their trucks & SUV's has become more important in recent years than it used to be as a result, of course. It used to be that power wars were fought in each automakers performance vehicles primarily, and trucks usually weren't part of the overall horsepower race, at least, not to the extent that it is now.
Ford isn't resting on their laurels, I'm quite sure.

Hi Bill,
I think you're right, I saw one of the TV car-review shows, I think it was the Car & Driver show, where they said it was 496 cubes. They went on and on about how the "Rat motor" is back at GM, which I'm sure will make a lot of Chevy fans happy.
It'll be interesting to see what Ford does in response!
