Post CHIP for PSD

What is the best chip for a 2001 F-250 SuperCrew with a PSD. We use the truck for light farm hauling but plan to occasionally pull a 5th wheel loaded with plants.

I have 99.5 PSD CC 4x4 and i installed a Western Diesel chip.I now have 305 hp & 625lb/ft torque. My MPG was 18 & went to 19+ hwy.The performance is "GREAT"!. Western Diesel chips wont give high exhaust temps when towing You can find them on www.ford-diesel.com . They are a sponsor of that site

Hi Ivanhoe_Farms,

There are several different Superchip power levels available, ranging from 315 hp & 630 lbs./ft. of torque all the way up to 400+ hp & 700+ lbs./ft. of torque and more, depending on just what you need, and what you'll be using the vehicle for.
Making more power in the PSD motors is relatively easy, but you do have to take into consideration just what you'll be doing with it, as the highest power levels start limiting how much you can tow with it.

If you use what we refer to as the "standard" program, which will add 65 horsepower and 120-130 lbs./ft. of torque, you're still emissions certified and you do not limit your towing capacity. Most people also pick up nice mileage gains as well in the PSD's, so for any number of reasons, that is the program that most people go with in these PSD's.

As you get up into the higher power levels that we offer for the Powerstroke, which are the "Offroad" and then the "Extreme" programs, then you have to start doing other modifications to the vehicle and you start reducing how much you can safely tow as well, in addition to getting worse fuel mileage and not being emissions certified.

The Superchip is is 50-state emissions certified to date for all years of the Powerstroke diesel in the "standard" power level, which adds 65 hp and 115-130 lbs./ft. of torque in the 1999 & newer PSD, a bit less in the 1998 & older PSD's. They have also been tuning Powerstroke diesels for longer than anyone else, save the engine manufacturer themselves, of course.

If you'd like to go over this in detail, and talk about how much weight you need to be able to tow, etc., please feel free to give us call at our number below, and we'll be happy to go over all of that with you.

Best of luck with your truck,
