It will not hurt it, but if you can, wait until you run out that tank an then install it. If not run the 87 octane as dry as possible, fill up with the highest octane you can 92 will work 93 is better and then disconnect your negative battery post, turn on headlights for at least 5 minutes. Put it back together and you should see the benefits immediately. Good luck!!

Hi Pyro,
STOP!!!!!!
DO NOT RUN THE SUPERCHIP WITH 87 OCTANE IN THE TANK! You will most likely get detonation as a result. You might get lucky and not experience detonation, as the total effective compensation range of the knock sensor systems in these vehicles can vary quite a bit, but you won't get the power gain, either.
You need to just WAIT, and install the Superchip *after* you have run out that 87 octane, and fill up with 92 or higher. 92 octane is enough, that's fine, just use the best quality premium in your area for best results. I'm sure that over this Holiday weekend you can drive it quite a bit, and get that regular gas out of there.
Also, don't forget what we discussed about the possibility of you having that jumper misconfiguration, as your code has been affected by that in the past on some of them, some are affected, and some aren't, it's completely random, so we just keep a list of all codes that have ever been affected, so we can let you know about this possibility, as we discussed over the phone. If you have any trouble, just give us a call, or if your father is helping you, we'll be happy to speak to him as well.
Be patient & good luck!

Hi Pryo,
OK, glad to hear it went OK, good idea to run that gas out of there.
One thing you'll want to remember is that if you can avoid it, try not to use octane boosters, as they tend to shorten the lifespan of spark plugs & O2 sensors, leaving a pink or purple residue behind. If you get in a pinch, they can get you thru, but it's not a good idea to use that stuff frequently.
Have fun!

Hi Pyro,
OK, glad to hear it worked out for you, and you are already aware of what the octane boosters can do!
Glad to hear you were able to beat that other truck now that you have the Superchip installed, that always makes it worthwhile, when you can see that kind of difference.
Say, what does your Dad think about you using the Superchip? And did you have teh jumper misconfiguration, did yo have to close your jumpers, or was yours not affected? I'm just curious, thanks for any info you can provide.
And please, if you'll forgive me for saying this, please be careful in your street "episodes" and playing with other vehicles, stoplight racing, etc., as they tend to throw the book at younger drivers, and we don't want to read about you in the papers. But then, you probably already know all that too.
Have fun & be careful,

Hi Pyro,
OK great, & thanks for the feedback.
It's wonderful to have a Dad who is into helping you get your performance happening, you're very lucky. But then, one look at your truck tells you that, it's very nice inded, most people here would like to have it, but to have that at the age of 16 is very lucky indeed. Congratulations on having a father that trusts you and works with you like yours obviously does!
