1715 and Volant are in!
Well I'm probably one of the biggest procrastinators around, but I finally installed the tuner and intake I bought months ago. Actually, I put it off since gas was so high. Just thought I'd comment on them after three tanks of gas. I got the 1715 before I knew about the 9100 or I'd have bought that.
The program was a breeze to install and took all of ten minutes or so. I bought it mainly because I tow a 5000 lb travel trailer so I installed the tow/perf tune. I knew I shouldn't be unrealistic in expecting a huge diference, and I'm very pleased with the results. A noticable diference in acceleration, firmer shifts and after the first tank my milage went up about 1.5 mpg! The first tank stayed about the same probably because I was jumpin on it alot. My first trip towing the trailer with it will be in a couple of weeks and I'm anxious to see how it does. So overall I'm real pleased and would definatly recomend it highly.
I installed a volant "cold air intake" at the same time and the installation was easy enough. The only things I might mention woud be that the wire to the maf is a little short for their location. (I think I've read others say the same thing) and there really isn't anything holding the filter box to the truck exept the presure from the tube up against the fender well. There's a threaded hole in the side, and a bent bracket that is included that you would fit to the bracket holding the rad overflow tank. But to do that the tank would have to be removed, and a knockout in the bracket removed etc. Since it was snug against the fender hole I just left it and it seems to be working fine. A real nice growl from the under the hood when I accelerate hard now. I didn't do a battery disconect, I just installed both at the same time and went with it.
Thanks Mike and Anita. THe magna flow will be next!
