Speedometer Recalibration??
Speedometer Recalibration??
I just installed 32 inch tires on the 2004 supercrew, and the dealer can't program my speedometer to be accurate. Is there any way I can recalibrate it aftermarket. I have already emailed Troyer, but they don't know the release date for the programmer yet. I don't care about the tuning as much as the speedo. The links for the other speedo calibration devices don't appear to be for the 04. Thanks
There is no other way currently - no Ford dealership can do that, the only thing they can do is enter a tire size offered by Ford on that vehicle in that model year - period. And if that doesn't match what you need, then you're SOL for a dealership service department doing that.
As we tell everyone who calls, the current estimated timeframe for the 1714 is sometime in late August - but what many people forget (or don't understand) is the nature of R&D. Any date is only a rough GUESS, and is never written in stone. There is no way to give anyone any firm date on when R&D is going to be completed on *anything* - that's the nature of R&D, it's done when it's done, not before or after, and there is no way to accurately predict when R&D is going to be complete in the future. Well, until time travel becomes possible, that is.
(Obviously I'm kidding here with you a bit!
)
We can tune the 2004 F-150's right now - and do speedometer corrections for gear ratio changes, tire size changes, etc. - nobody has to wait for that, we've been doing that for months & months. Only those who don't want to overnight their PCM in and have it overnighted back are going to have a wait on a speedo recalibration.
