SuperChip In 2000 Navigator
I had just ordered my super chip for my 2000 navigator. I was wondering if anyone else has used a superchip in a 32V Intech motor 5.4l ? Right now I am required to use min 91 Octain fuel. What will I need once I install my SuperChip (NAV GAS). Also I was wondering what kind of performance gains should I expect? Cant wait to firm up that mushy tranny shifting!! (Lincoln made it extra mushy durring shifts)
Also I have a K&N Filter and am looking at upgrading to the FIPK either Airaid or K&N.
Any sugestions?

Hi LaserNAV,
As we discussed over the phone, the Superchip requires the use of 92 octane gasoline at sea level to get the rated power gains.
We can talk about exact hp & torque numbers forever and a day, but I think the best way to describe what the vehicle is actually going to feel like with the Superchip is to take a look at the power gains in terms of percentages. You will see a 10%-12% increase in peak horsepower, and a 13%-17% increase in peak torque. And that is about what to expect the vehicle to feel like, like it just picked up about a 10%-12% raw power gain.
The DOHC motors are wonderful, with their 6-bolt mains, fractured instead of sawn connecting rods, head studs instead of head bolts, etc. This motor was designed to withstand a lot of power, and a lot of rpms as well.
You already have a drop-in K&N air filter, so if you want more power gain from the intake air tract, then you're on the right track in looking at one of the airbox elimination kits. YOur Navagator is basically built on the Expedition body, so you may be able to use the kit for the Expedition, I don't know if you have a different airbox design on that 32-valve NAV, so you'll need to check on that. I would suggest contacting Roger Lemere, who runs the online store here on F-150 Online, and have him go over the options with you there. You can reach Roger at 916-361-2510.
Good luck with that beautiful (and expensive!) DOHC Navigator!

Thanks again Mike. After considering the purchase of the superchip I referenced my brother (98 F250 4x4 cat back, Airraid II) who had purchased a duel program chip from you. He had mentioned that you are a walking talking encyclopedia of engine knowledge and performance. I must agree with him!
On the intake plenum of the NAV looks like two circular intakes close together with a sort of plastic adapter that merges them into a single OVAL the tubing is oval from the intake all the way until after the 90 degree bend then becomes round. The air filter is in fact the same as the Expedition. After the filter tube I loose sight of it when it goes into the fender. Thanks for the reference on the FIPK.
By the way my brother swears by your Superchip.
He is what I call a binary driver.. “FULL ON” or “FULL OFF”.

Hi LaserNav,
That's a new one, a "binary driver", eh? I like that.
Sounds like good news on the intake as well!
