Ordered my superchip yesterday and....
am wondering how long they take to arrive? I cannot find a phone number for the company to call. Hoping the rep will read this and get back to me.
Also, from all the post I have read, the computer is supposed to be located near the passengers kick plate yes? Is that the piece of plastic on the outboard side of the passenger floor? I looked up in there and I see nothing resembling a computer. There is a fuel pump reset, some kind of air line??? Do you need to take that plastic panel off? It is a brand new 2001, just picked it up yesterday. Wondering if they changed the location this year. If someone can describe what it is I am looking for, I would appreciate it.
I am also wondering, I am putting on a Ravin Z55 exhaust system and a K & N air system. Does the chip have to be programed for those mods or not??
Finally, when you put the chip in, do you all run your tanks low on regular, fill up with premium, then install the chip??
As I said, I would appreciate any help or guidance you veterans can give this here rookie.

Unless the computer has been moved, you don't have to remove the plastic panel. The best way to find it is to look under the hood behind the battery. You should see the wire harness going into the wall there and then you will know where to look inside. The wire harness runs vertical so you should see it easy. As far as the chip program Mike T will help you with that, but I don't think it will need changes. Good luck. Nice truck

Hi African,
Gee, every one of my posts has our contact info as well in the signature line, just like this one does below.
That info is also in the ordering system, perhaps you missed it on there on the last page of it.
At any rate, I got your email and responded to you there with your info.
Since we're already on the subject, your code of VZR1 is not yet available, as that literally just rolled off the assembly line, and it's a brand new software revision, in a brand new model year, so it's going to take some time before we have the R&D done on that one. This happens of course at the very beginning of each new model year, and we expect some changes for the 2001 model year in terms of powertrain controls. We have over 6000 different applications, but the Ford trucks are our first priority at the beginning of each model year, so this won't be too long, it will get done as soon as we can get a VZR1 vehicle in to do the R&D. That could happen in 2 weeks, or it could be 30-60 days or so, as I explained in our email to you. We will send you an email automatically as soon as your code is available.
I know you're excited to get it, especially after all the research you did and questions you asked here in checking our the product, and I apologize for the wait, but this is something we have to deal with at the beginning of each new model year.
The computer in all of the 1997 & newer F-150's (unless they've changed it for 2001) has been located on the passenger side of the vehicle, inside the cabin, to the right of the dash assembly and just above the passenger's kick panel. It is held to it's mounting bracket by a black pressure clip.
When you're going to install the chip, you got it exactly right, you run the regular down as low as reasonably possible without running out of fuel, and the fill up with premium, and *then* install the Superchip, that is the best way to do it. Since it's going to be a little bit of a wait, you should just continue to use regular for now.
And no, reducing restriction on either the intake or exhaust side with things like cat-back exhaust systms or K&N air filters, etc., do not need any compensation in the program so far on the late-model F-150's. I don't see that changing, but we'll know that for sure once the 2001 R&D is done to confirm.
We'll get it done as quickly as possible and notify you ASAP when it's ready!

Hey Mike, you just made my day man!!
If you remember out phone conversation about the check engine light, I did the headlight thing and it still came on the second time I started the engine. Should I have it scanned and see if I can solve the problem before installing your (my) chip?? I am hoping that I just damaged the temperature sensor and can replace it and all will be fine.
Thanks again for the good new,
