'02 vs Future F-150

Planning to get a 9100 tuner for my '02 4.2L F-150. If in the future, I trade in my truck for a newer F-150 ('05, '06...?) can this tuner still be used or will future PCM's make it obsolete?

Thanks...

Hi pd417,

The 9100 will work on almost any 1996-2004 FoMoCo vehicle using the EEC-V PCM.

In the F-150, there are 2 different 2004 models - one is the "Heritage" series, which is the same body style as the 1997-2003 F-150's and it still uses the EEC-V PCM - so the 9100 will still work on it.

Then there is the *new* body style 2004 F-150, which uses the PTECH (Black Oak) PCM and is a CAN vehicle (Controller Area Network) - the 9100 will *not* work on that vehicle.

Remember, there are literally millions upon millions upon millions of 1996-2004 FoMoCo vehicles the 9100 will work on, so you can very easily sell your 9100 to one of those owners in the future (who can easily have us reprogram it if need be for a different vehicle), when you trade in your 2002 to get a newer truck - so you won't be out much even a few years down the road when you buy your next new Ford truck.

You're very welcome, as always.

One other thought - if you sell the 9100 in the future, it has to come back to us so we can "unlock" it, so it can then be reprogrammed for the next vehicle it's going to be used on - virtually any '96-'04 FoMoCo vehicle with the EEC-V PCM.

Feel free to touch base with us to check on the exact cost, etc., as we do special deals in those situations that help the original owner get it sold - just FYI.
