Very impressed w/Superchip
Sounds like fun ! I noticed the shift tightness the first shift. I would prefer a firmer shift, but it is a great improvement. The last half of second gear is great. Mine hits 3rd in auto at 80mph or so. It lays a second gear scratch if it is shifted manually while floored; didn't before. Happy Trucking !

The first time I used the chip i noticed a huge difference also. I took the chip out though because of gas prices, and when I put it back in, I can't see/feel the difference anymore. I don't know if its just me or what. I wish there was a was to tell if it was working right or not. Does anyone know if they can just stop working right? break?

I don't care at all about having to pay $35 at the pump every fill up. I don't care about the bad gas mileage (due to lead foot).
I was impressed the second I pulled it out of the driveway (after it warmed up). I purposely (sadly) came to a complete stop in the middle of a back road (pavement), smacked the gas pedal and DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE. My tires broke loose even after about 2" into the throttle. My roomate was soooo jealous (he was in the truck at the first run w/Superchip). He's got a 2000 3/4 ton long bed reg cab chevy with the 5.3L 270 HP engine w/3.73 gears... and he couldn't break his tires loose if hell froze over.
And the shift characteristics now!... WOW. That's all I need to so, but I will say a little extra anyway. Very, very fast shifting. Stays level. No over-reving/under-reving. The front end doesn't drop to the ground, then fly in the air. No clunking of the transmission. From a complete stop (w/overdrive OFF), I punched it. I was already at 70 mph in 2nd Gear!!! I was afraid I was going to get pulled over, so I had to let off. I'm not that curious how far that thing can go in 2nd.
I used to have the JET chip. HUGE. HUGE difference. Same price (plus/minus $10) and everything. Such a waste of money and premium fuel w/JET chip. Terrible shifts w/JET chip.

christrucker -
I recently had a similar experience. I had to pull my chip for a different reason and when I put it back in (a month later)the difference wasn't as noticeable. The lack of power left me wondering the same thing. But then I started to notice a difference in the shifting so I know my chip is working right. The only time I've ever heard of the chip not working is when it works itself loose. This results in the truck not starting outright.

Hi Red Bull,
Great post!
Glad to hear you're enjoying it, of course.
Your comments about how the Superchip feels versus how your JET chip felt are something that we hear a lot, it's not just you. It's the difference between a "generic" chip, and one that was made specifically for your truck, and also the fact that the Superchip adds power at all throttle positions, not just WOT. (wide-open throttle)
Your comments about the difference in shifting between the 2 chips is pretty common as well. Superchips spends every bit as much R&D on automatic transmission programming as they do engine programming, and it shows in the thoroughness of the changes there.
Have fun!

Hi christrucker,
Remember, the programming in the Superchip cannot ever change all by itself magically, somehow.
As long as you use 92 octane or greater, you're getting the power gains, that cannot change on it's own.
The way you know it's working is if your truck starts when it's installed. The Superchip cannot just do part of it's job, it's all or nothing, so as long as your truck starts with the Superchip installed, it's working.
Just to give you an idea of how this works, the Ford computer's male edge conector where you attach the Superchip is the beginning (or end, depending on your perspective) of the external override data path. So when you attach the Superchip, engaging that circuit tells the computer to turn off it's internal eprom chip, and to seek it's instructions externally, just as Ford designed it to do. Thus, it's an "all or nothing" design, so it can't just do part of it's job. As long as you have premium gas in the tank, and the vehicle starts with the Superchip installed, it's working.
I hope that helps to give you a bit more info, & good luck!
