Superchip and towing
What can the superchip do to help when towing? Is the standard chip good for everyday and towing, or would a flip chip be better? I am planning on getting a 29' trailer with weights of 5300/7200 pounds. This would be getting close to the max of 7700 for my truck.

HI mjhind,
The Flip Chip will not get you any more power for towing over what the single-program Superchip gives, just so you'll know.
Because of the way Superchips programs (tuning at all throttle positions), there really isn't anything different that is needed to be done to the program specifically for towing in these F-150's. Power is increased as much as possible already at all throttle positions, and the automatic transmissions calibrations are excellent for towing, as we concentrate on the reduction of slippage. Given that, there really isn't anything more that can be done to enhance the towing capabilities of your vehicle above what is already being done, as we already take towing applications iunto consideration.
With the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, you could have it programmed with one program for regular gas, and then the other would be the normal performance program for premium gas; while you would get some additional flexibility in terms of fuel burned, the power gains will still only come when using the program for premium gas, and you really don't need to spend the additional money for the Flip Chip over the single-program Superchip unless you want to burn regular gas when not towing, perhaps. Most people just prefer to have all the benefits all the time, but this is of course up to you.
Please feel free to give us a shout if you'd like to go over this in more detail, ok? Our number is just below.
