Thumbs up

bchambers,

Welcome to F150online! Glad you are enjoying your new truck. I am a two time Superchip owner and I can confirm everything Mike said above. You will not be disappointed! I really enjoy the greatly improved shifting and the additional power and torque in my 5.4L. The extra $4.00 per tank to run Premium fuel is more than worth it in my opinion.

In addition, Mike is always on here to answer ANY question you throw at him...well..dealing with Superchips and automotive related stuff that is.

Installation is easy and takes between 30 minutes to one hour. Here is a link for more information: http://www.f150w o r l d .com / superchip.asp

* I had to put spaces in the link above because it is being blocked on this site for some reason. Remove all spaces and you will be good to go.

Question SuperChips Rookie

Just took delivery of my truck a couple of days ago. First truck!! Past two vehicles were Explorers and love the truck already. Need some rookie advice on Super Chips. What are their primary functions? Approximate costs? Are they worth the money, etc. Any advice, comments, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bchambers,

Welcome to F-150 Online!

What the Superchip does in these F-150's is basically unlock about 10%-12% more raw peak horsepower, by re-tuning the engine specifically for the use of premium gasoline.

In terms of it's bang-for-the-buck value, it's generally considered the single best bang-for-the-buck performance addition you can make to these vehicles.

With regards to exact pricing, the Webmaster here has a policy of keeping pricing issues off the message boards, so you'll want to contact us privately for that information. Or, you can click on our link listed below, to access our online ordering system for the Superchip here on F-150 Online, and that will give you the information you want.

The Superchip also helps to extend the life of the friction materials (clutches, etc.) in the automatic transmission by reducing much of the slippage that is induced by Ford's "soft-shift" strategy. This soft-shift strategy is used by just about all automakers these days, to accommodate their idea of what the female buyer wants.

The shift characteristics are noticeably improved with the Superchip, removing upshift & downshift delays, removing transitional spar retards that reduce engien power during upshifts, etc. The Superchip also does other things such as removing the top speed limiter as well.

The end result is that the vehicle is more responsive to your right foot; it feels more directly connected to the drivetrain. In terms of what you should expect your vehicle to feel like with the Superchip installed, it is going to feel like you have about 10%-12% more motor under the hood, is one way to put it.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback from Superchip owners here.

And if you would like to go over all the details, please feel free to contact us directly, our contact info is just below.

Congratulations on your new truck!
