Post Chip ?

I installed my chip a couple weeks ago. The first thing i noticed was the shifting changes which are nice. Today i went to get my gears changed from 3:55 ls to 4:10 ls. Because i went from 235-R16 to 285-R16 tires, a few months back. Do i need to get my chip reprogrammed or something? I know the new gears will make my truck rev a little higher so i was wondering if it affects the chip at all. Thanks for you help

Hi Ryshark,

It will depend on just how much of a change there was overall, between the gearing and the tire size change. The gear change may have basically compensated for the tire size change, or we may need to do an adjustment for you, we'll need to go over all of that with you.

If you install 4.10 gears with the same size tires, for example, then we sometimes have to make an adjustment so that you don't bounce off the rev limiter during the WOT 1-2 upshift from the engine gaining rpms more quickly in first gear, and the transmission subsequently not having enough time to complete it's upshfit before the engine hits the rev limiter, and that's an easy adjustment to make.

There can be any number of possibilities, ranging from nothing needing to be done to some adjustments being needed, so it's usually best to just give us a call so we can go over all of this with you.
