Flipchip
What is the difference(or problems) in switching from the 93 to the 87 program and NOT disconnecting the battery and preforming a power down routine? Or visa versa. I do understand about Fords adaptive strategy so I would be looking for answers that pretain to the change affecting the computor retained memory of my driving habits.
Inquiring minds have to know.
BTW; Mike, have you made the chip for my Johnson 150 Outboard yet?

Hi Subman,
You do not have to disconnect the battery to switch programs, you merely have to shut off the engine for a second, just long enough to flip the switch. Now it can take 50-100 miles after you change program to start feeling the difference, thats all. Disconnecting the battery would clear the computer's memory, and let it get a complete fresh program load, but it's not *required*.
For example, if you have been running around on the 87 octane program, then flip the switch and fill up with premium, it will take some driving for you to feel the increased power. Going the other way is not a problem, as the knock sensor will pick up any detonation and reduce timing accordingly, until some miles are driven and the 87 octane program slowly overwrites the premium gas program.
If it were me, unless I was doing controlled back-to-back testing, I wouldn't disconnect the battery when you flip the switch, that's too much work!
And no, no chip for your outboard.
