Mid-Range.. and Superchip??
Hi Bill!
Good memory, Superbird, that's right, that was one of the wing cars, the Plymouth Superbird, and then there was the Charger Daytona from the Dodge side of Mopar.
The one that is right here with less than 8000 miles on it has unfortunately not been taken good care of by the dealer that owns it, and has numerous dents on both sides of the vehicle. Nothing that couldn't easily be fixed and then painted properly, but it's not "cherry" by any means, just all original, never registered, and very low miles, the lowest I've ever personally seen on a wing car. I've been told that they stored it in their overhead "barn" for many years, and things just banged up against it for lack of space, etc. Judging from the looks of the brand-new Viper sitting in their showroom at that time, I'd say it didn't have to be in storage to be damaged like that. Why is it that some dealers just don't care what happens to their cars, even the rare expensive beauties, because they get new ones all the time?

Yes, the Grump! Do recall him.
There was something 'special' about that
time.
Some great music, fast cars and the ladies
were gentler perhaps...
Well, life goes on. I note that the "sons"
of many of the old quarter mile greats
are racing.. Snake's kid is out there, saw
some other names... 4.6 quarter miles!
Wow!

Wow!
We recieved our chip from Mike last wed. afternoon and installed it as soon as I got home from work. then imediately left for Ca. for a couple of days. The install was simple even though I had to remove battery and battery box. Computer box remounted without any taping, strapping, or clip tweeking. Its possibly the simplest mod you can do in one of theese trucks. The chip has performed as promised. WOW! what an improvement! No more tranny slipping and sliding. It actually "shifts" into gears now. Throttle response is definately improved also. The hesitation and sluggishness is gone. What was Ford thinking when they wrote the program for this thing? that my grandmother was gonna drive it?. Lisa was so impressed with the performance improvement she ok'ed the JBA headers and cat-back upgrades. Then its the Airaid and tire upgrade hopefully for x-mas!
ps. Mike thanks for all the good info, service and a product that performed as promised.

HI Karick11,
Yep, Grumpy Jenkins (who earned that nickname!) was a fine gear-thrasher, I never saw that video of him rowing the gears, I'd sure love to see it!
Grumpy ruled the original Pro Stock classes much as Glidden did decades later, for years and year hardly anyone could touch Grumpy and his series of "Toys".

Hi Crewchief,
Welcome back from your trip, great post!
Most of these trucks do not have the "lip" on either the black pressure clip or on the mounting bracket, it's a small number of them that have this, so we're glad to hear you didn't have this either. Luckily it's an easy fix even on those few that are affected.
Glad to hear you're enjoying it, your post is an excellent example of what the Superchip does and why it's users like it.
Your crack about who did Ford think was going to drive it, your Grandmother was much closer to the mark than most people realize. Ford actually *does* program the powertrain for what they think women want, as does every other automaker by now in all their automatics, and it's called "soft-shift" strategy. A little over a decade ago teh automakers fitured out that females are buyingt more than 50% of all new vehicles sold in the US regardless of vehicle type, and that females are involved in the purchasing decision in over 70% of all vehicle sales. Consequently they've implemented these soft-shift strategies, and done other things like downsize armrests & positioning, downsize the bottom seat cushions (any 6-footers out there wonder why your legs hang off the end of the seat in some vehicles? This is why!), etc. And it's not just Ford we must point out, it's most of the automakers doing these things, and all of them have implemented "soft-shift" strategies.
Luckily the programming is relatively easy to "fix".

g-money,
any milage improvement may take a couple of weeks to realize seeing that I can't seem to keep my foot out of the accelerator. Although I will say that even with a heavy foot my milage held (tracking it carefully) which tells me that there will be some improvement once I ease up on it. But for now we're having too much fun!
