Question For "Mike T"
Hi Mike,
I have noticed in several of your posts that your testing shows that the performance of the Air Raid and K&N GenII are about the same, and the price is the same, but you prefer the Air Raid system. Inquiring minds, (at least mine) would like to know why? I already have the K&N and really like it but would like to know your reason for the future.
Sorry to read about your wife, hope she is doing better. I have two horses and they are great but it is easy to get hurt on or around them.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Red,
Both the K&N FIPK kit and the Airaid kit cost the same here on F-150 Online, and make the same gains on the dyno. K&N did this first, Airaid came along many years later.
We like the Airaid kit better because it has a more stable mounting design, with less movement & vibration on the end of the assembly where the filter itself is located, and also because the Airaid just plain looks better, though that aspect is of course purely subjective.
So given that all else is roughly equal, (pricing & performance) we like what looks best and the better mount design.
Since you already have the K&N FIPK kit, I wouldn't make any changes, just enjoy it! They do a fine job, so it's not like the K&N unit is somehow detrimental or anything, it's just our preference, that's all.
Since she's the only wife I have (!), I'll be doing my best to keep her off those horses in the future. I think this accident should be warning enough, though she of course disagrees. It's always something!
Thanks very much for your best wishes, I'll pass them along to her.

Mike,
Have you tested a WMS tube w/ a K&N filter? I went with it over the others, mainly because it still pulls cold air from the fender. Just curious how it stacks up on the dyno. It makes a difference in the seat-o-pants meter
Thanks,
Sven
