Wink What happen to the good ol'days

What happen to the day's of loosening the distributor bolt and advancing it a few degrees. Damn, between the technology and you guys bragging (commenting) on the Superchip, it is going to force me to go pick up aluminum cans so I can afford one.
Well the Mustang can't get all the goodies.

The good old days are right NOW, the 5.4L makes a true 260HP out of 330 cu in. That is really good for a 2 valve truck engine. In the past the 351 engines made far less power and had poor economy.

Cool

It's ok to live in both worlds; I do. Although more complicated, todays computer designed and controlled engines CAN be wonderful. The "chip" programming is a great way to improve performance for the money; and you don't even get your hands dirty!

Did you all see that the ASA racing program has gone to fuel injected, computer controlled engines.

Hi ps398,

Glad to see you mentioned that, a lot of those guys have come to us for assistance with that as well.

Actually, NASCAR stock car racing is one of the very few forms of auto racing today that do not use computer-controlled & fuel-injected engines. In time, it'll happen there too. It took them forever just to implement any kind of electronic ignition, as they are always concerned with reliability, and computer controls and fuel injection implementation in NASCAR is going to take time, no doubt, but eventually it'll happen.

Formula 1 spares no expense in this regard, and it's working well for them!

Mike,

It would be interesting to see NASCAR get back to racing what is on the Dealer's lot. Or can I get a Taurus like the NASCAR one? What wins on Sunday hasn't been available to sell on Monday for quite a while now.

Hi JMC,

It was great talking to you today, thanks for the call!

Yep, "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" does have a new meaning these days. It certainly has been a long time since you could buy something even remotely close to what's being raced; when was the last time you could get a V-8 in a Monte Carlo, for example?!?
