Why Fastchip?
<<Bingo!>>
What did you win?
<<GM owners- there's the key.>>
Concentrate! You mean Superchip *doesn't* build chips for GM? Duh! Actually, Superchip chips for GM and FORD are probably built to equal quality... and Fastchip just happens to build better chips for GM. Now why would Superchip lay down and not give their best efforts for ALL chips that they build? Hmmmmm? Answer: Superchip doesn't slack off for any chip they build, I'm sure, but Fastchip just builds a better chip... and when Mr. Ed decides to expand his part numbers, then I'm sure he will put the same Fastchip "get up 'n go" into his FORD chips.

We know all about Ed Wright, he's been talked about on this board before, so we don't need the spam. When he wanted chips for Fords, who did he come to in 1994? *ME*. He only makes products for GM's, and yes, we've seen that ad he has on his web site, the same one he's been running for years and years. He went to the drag strip and said his vehicle ran quicker with his chip over the Superchip in one vehicle. What was not mentioned were the things that were done inside that program that Superchips doesn't do to daily-driven street vehicles, his was a specific drag-race type of program, and that is very well known by Superchips. It was a comparison between his drag-race program and the "standard" Superchips program for that vehicle on the street. If you want a drag-race only program, sure, we can make them quicker than *anyone*.
We're very glad that Ed is doing well programming his GM's, and we wish him continued success. For his Fords, he comes to us, and always has. He specializes in GM vehicles, trucks primarily, so why the discussion about him here again? Flame bait & thinly veiled spam is what it looks like to me, but nobody can ruin my great mood, we just got back in from the First National F-150 Online Rally!
Look for all the Rally details to be posted soon!

I'd still like to know if he is tuning Fords or still just downloading Superchips for them.
As you can see from my profile, he's not far from where I live. Several of the guys from Sam's Offroad go there and speak highly of his work. I'd like to see him in action. Maybe even do a few dyno runs- one with the OEM code, one with a Superchip and one with his program. I've got a '97 4.6L and a 2000 5.4L so we can try both engines.

C'mon, Everyone has a price. We're all ****** in a sense. I could talk you into doing just about anything for a money, fame or trinkets. Take money out of the life equation. We'd all be Amish( no disrespect implied..actually, they have it made.)
All these test reports are biased.
How else could the "new" model truck ALWAYS be the "Truck of the Year"?
Show me a truck comparo that was apples to apples. Can't find one, can you?

When you, Superchip guy, said...
"We can make them quicker than *anyone*"
can you "guarantee" it?
Ed said:
"We guarantee no chip will outperform ours!
30 day money back guarantee!"
Gotta love a guy that makes a bold statement like that and "guarantees" it.
By the way, I'm not dissin' Superchip... I just stated that Ed builds a good chip and *many* name brand chips are being removed, just so a Fastchip can be installed. I don't own a GM and I tried, again, to see if Ed could do some chip tuning for me (HIS own tuning... not Superchip or OTC downloads) but once again, he said he has more than enough GM customers to keep him busy. FYI, he suggested I give Superchip a ring, since I drive a FORD. I've had a Superchip, JET, and Hypertech programming in my '98 4.6L and I thought Superchip was the best... but I liked the Hypertech programming almost as much; JET blows. My new 2000 Lariat is stock, for now.

Just my opinion, but I got more of a kick from the K&N filter on my old '98, then I did from the JET chip. Also, I bought the Superchip and JET chip within 2 weeks of each other and swapping the chips to-and-fro a few times... I decided that JET (In my opinion) blows chunks.

Hi nomo,
No, Ed is not doing his own programming for the Fords, he uses Superchips. We set him up with all that equipment back in 94-95, and that still holds true today.
Like Tux said, Ed's GM work keeps him busy enough, as he is basically a one-man operation, there are no engineers, etc. And he's doing well at it, which we hope will continue for many years to come.

Sounds like I'm the only guy here actually running a fastchips computer. But it's not in my Ford (because,as many have stated he doesn't do fords). I have one of his programmed PCM's in my Impala SS. He is the premier tuner for GM LT1's including camaro's, Impalas, and firebirds. BUT, he has gotten so busy that I think he is overwhelmed with work and makes mistakes while programming. Case in point, I sent my PCM in for a reprogram for the new 383 motor with 30LB injectors and a 58mm Throttle Body (remember there are two bores on a GM TB insead of one like a Ford). When it came back the car was really lean and I sent the PCM back to Ed. Turns out he accidentally put in a program for 36LB injectors and a supercharger's additional superfueler !! After a few reprogrammings the car is running much better now.
