Thumbs up Mike T update on milage

Hi Mike,

Just returned from my 4th of july trip. I traveled 346 miles both ways with the a/c running full tilt to my destination and no use on my return. I used 15.4 gallons of gas to and from. I figure I'm getting 22.4 miles per gallon that's up a bit from my 18 miles per gallon.. I'm very satified with it but I know that's going to change because I decided to get 3.55's installed in the font and rear ends with a track lock for the rear.

As a side note: I've seen other post that state - after these guys installed the superchip they cann't get the rear tires to broke loose and or smoke. I don't know about them but with my 5-speed manual I can get the rear wheel to brake loose and even chirp 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd but not 3rd to 4th thats on dry or wet surface. Maybe because I have an open rear end.

Thanks for all your help with everything my truck performs as I want it to.

Hi roaks2764,

Wow, that's over 4 mpg increase on the highway!! One thing that's helping you big-time is the fact that you have a manual transmission. You see, they only eat about 3035 hp in driveline losses, whereas the automatics eat up 65 hp, to say nothing of teh weight difference between the auto and the manual transmissions. That's a good bit of why your performance is so good and your mileage too, in comparison to some other F-150's. Excellent!

Having a clutch and an open differential, like you mentioned, does make it a lot easier to light 'em up.

There is so much potential weight & effective gearing difference in all the various configurations of F-150's that you can get the lightest stick-shift 4.2 V-6 can out-run the heaviest 5.4 automatic in the right vehicle configuration.

Glad to see it's working out so well for you, have fun!
