Question about the Extreme Flasher that just came out

Hey guys, even though i dont have an f150, i have a 97 tbird with the 4.6L engine, i am interested in this product. I noticed the extreme flasher is out on the superchips custom tuning website. Is it the same thing as the 9100 Tuner or is it a all new thing? Also, if it is a "all" new thing, id like to know where i can get it, or unless it hasnt been released yet. I heard that the 9100 makes a big difference over the 1715. Mike if u read this, what kind of power gains should i see use the extreme flasher, and how does it work if u spend the $75 extra to get the software and the cable? Edit, my tbird is bone stock, and 97 tbirds put down about 165-170 rwhp stock.

How big of difference does the 9100 make in ur guys case over stock? Some ppl say 3-5 tenths off the quarter over just a 1715 tuner.... I did a little more research, and the extreme version allows for small adjustments an such, whereas the 9100 does not. Did it make a big difference in power an fuel economy using 9100 or no?

Hi Wilson,

The Extreme unit isn't coming out in the form that was advertised the past 2 months in a couple of magazines and on their web site. Instead, they are working on something that will be compatible with all existing 9100's, and thus better serve *all* customers - both new and existing 9100 owners.

The issue is simply that the 9100 is designed to be non-platform specific - meaning unlike any other flash device, it can be programed for *any* OBD-II FoMoCo with an EEC-V PCM. In a #1715 unit, which is only for gas engine trucks, it's feasible to have some minor user adjustments, but it's just not feasible to have all those user adjustments in such an "across the board" piece of hardware, to work on *any* FoMoCo OBD-II platform. So another solution is in the works, and will be announced when available.

The *total* improvement in 1/4 mile times from our custom tuning in a typical V8 F-150 are in the range of 7-12 tenths, quite an improvement.

Now for a 4.6 V8 T'bird, it's more like a half-second off the 1/4 mile times on average, with some seeing 7 tenths or a bit more.
Nice to see a T'bird owner by the way - we've owned a number of them, and the last couple of model years especially are my favorites - your 1997 4.6 V8 being the preferred choice.

In terms of bottom line, what's going to get you the best performance & power gains in terms of tuning/powertrain programming, hands down it's our custom tuning - and we can deliver that to you in either the 3-program 9100 Micro Tuner or the 6600 multi-program chip, whichever you prefer. The nice thing about having a multi-program unit is that we can do, for example, one of those tunes as a "fuel economy" type of tune - for best possible fuel mileage. Then another tune for say, all-out drag racing - and then another for the more normal "daily driver" type of performance needs - etc., etc. So we can tune your car for everything from getting you better mpg to best possible performance, too.

Just give us a call whenever you get a chance for all the details & we'll be happy to go over everything with you.
